Review
Finished the trigger work this morning. Followed along with the video and love the result. Off to the range tomorrow to enjoy. Thanks.
I received my new Ruger GP100 and as many reviews stated the trigger can be rough! That’s an understatement, mine was terrible...gritty and rough and something i could not live with. I ordered the trigger job kit from y’all and received it very quickly. Followed your online video “how to” and now the revolver trigger action is AMAZING! Thank you so much for a quality product and an outstanding customer experience!
I bought this for my SP101 and it has reduced the trigger pull by half with absolutely no light primer strikes, fantastic product! Highly recommend following the upgrade installation video, it is very in-depth and helps especially if you are not mechanically inclined like myself. If you have a SP101 or GP100 this is a must have. I bought a second kit to go into my GP100. Both orders were shipped out same day, fantastic service!
This product changed my feelings on the SP101 completely. The pistol is built like a bank vault but it had the most horrendous trigger I have ever used. Now it is one of the smoothest. The video was the clincher though. It was excellent. I watched it even before I bought the parts. That is what prompted me to do so. Many thanks for the great product
Performed all the polishing as shown in the video and installed springs and shims. Hugh improvement! Silky smooth action. Really commend MCARBO for the very detailed videos and the upgrade parts niche they fill. I have used several of MCARBO's upgrades (Keltec CMR-30, Remington 597) and the GP/SP kit is another winner. Best $20 you could possibly spend on your Ruger.
Let's be honest, the stock ruger sp101 is absolute garbage. I had already cut the springs to get it to a slightly better trigger. SA trigger pull was reduced to 4.5lb. After the spring kit, the SA was down to 3.5lb. Double action is still over 8lbs, but probably half of the original trigger pull. Great buy for the money.
Don't have anyway to test the trigger pull after changing out the springs but I can definitely tell the difference when shooting double action. Excellent product in my opinion.
Great product even better video Thank You It's like a different pistol now. Better than new.
Very high quality kit. Will buy from again.
Just had my third trigger kit installed. I had a issue it was taken care of with shipping in just 5 business days. Gun works great now. Mcarbo great brotherhood.
My SP101 has been junk sense the day I bought it. Returning it to Ruger for repairs did almost nothing. The cylinder gets jammed and difficult to rotate, so pulling the hammer back for single action firing is difficult to impossible. Your instrutional video is amazing and easy to follow. As a former machinist I found the machine quality of the Ruger to be horrible. The finish maching on the Ejecter is particularly BAD and most likely the biggest problem with this gun. After beburring and polishing double action firing is 100% improved. The wife (her gun) is very impressed. However in single action the hammer still jams and can not be pulled back periodically. Finish macining of the ejecter is very poor from the factory so now I can call Ruger, sell the gun or just live with problem. Accuracy: from the factory the SP101 fired 2" to the right and 3.5" low at 20'. The rear sight is now adjusted up to the point of loosing spring tension and adjusted so far left it's unpleasant to look at. I love my GP100 but will never buy another SP101 Thank you M CARBO
Bought this kit to smooth out the trigger on my Ruger GP100 and it made a massive difference. The most important part is to take your time and polish all the internal parts to a mirror finish. I spent around 5 hours on this kit which was admittedly way more than it should have taken but I wanted it to be perfect and id be hard pressed to say I've ever seen or felt a batter trigger on a revolver that has an MSRP under $3,000. And that's saying a lot since I work for a Nighthawk dealer.
This is perfect. With the video they have it is nearly impossible to not be able to do this on your own. The recoil and trigger are much better than factory. I would definitely recommend.
The detailed video for the SP101 trigger job is THE reason I was willing try it myself. I ordered spring kit, accessories, and supplies used in the video and successfully completed the trigger job following the video step by step. Now my trigger is very smooth and noticeably lighter. I took my time and spent over 2 hours, but it was time well spent.
