Review
I replaced the spring on my Hells Canyon Speed X-Bolt. It was super easy by following the online "how to" video. Took it from stock 3.14 lb to 2.13 lb. Not quite as much difference as I hoped but still to get a hunting rifle below 3 is very nice. Haven't been able to shoot yet but I know it will be noticeably better. Thank you
Super easy install, very fast shipping! Got my X-Bolt from 4.8lbs to 2.5! Trigger also remained nice a crisp, would recommend to anyone with an X-Bolt! 10/10
Hello Chris, This review is based on my witnessing a 'thrilled' MCARBO customer at the gun range recently. As I watched, he shot a 1/2 MOA group with his new Browning XBOLT in 6.5 PRC. He was thrilled with his gun's performance since he had installed his MCARBO trigger spring: for a mere $13. his rifle was delivering stellar performance!
Lowered my trigger weight down to 2.5 - 3.0 lbs, so worth doing. However, I think a lot of folks will have trouble with the install. I watched the video and it seemed straight forward, but it was harder than it looked. I work on guns all the time, but my trigger housing had a smaller hole and thicker looking frame than that on the video (X-bolt Hell's Canyon Speed). Maybe a generational thing? I got it done, but only with special pick and I think some may need to take it to a gun smith.
I'd give this product 4.5 stars if I could. Easy to install and a noticeably lighter trigger pull. But I was unable to measure trigger pull before or after installation. That said, I wish the trigger pull was still lighter. This may have to do more with just how bad the factory X-Bolt trigger is IMHO (at least on my rifle). Still worth what I paid and I would recommend as an affordable alternative to an aftermarket trigger.
Watched the video as I installed spring, great video. Trigger is improved. I have grown to enjoy good triggers, having purchased a few 1911 pistols. This is a great price for an easy improvement. Thank you, actually ordered two more today as well.
Just installed. Cut the trigger pull by a little less than half. Took about 10 minutes. Still crisp, would do again. Actually, I would make this mod before firing more than just verification of function rounds if I had it to do over.
The trigger on my Browning X-bolt Max Long Range already had a nice clean break, with very little over travel. However, the pull weight was about 4 pounds. The M*Carbo spring was a bit tricky to install, but reduced the trigger pull in my rifle to 1 3/4 pounds. Much better. Tips: The trigger assembly really needs to be removed from the receiver, or the spring cannot be removed. Removing the spring after that still requires some patience. After trying several times with a 1/16" punch, I switched to using some fine point tweezers. The tweezers were much easier to use; I recommend getting a pair if you don't already have some.
Very helpful customer service, really fast shipping, easy to install lowered trigger pull to 2lbs
Always hated the factory trigger, just seemed to have to yank on it to get the gun to go off. Installed this with the help of the video, dropped in just like they said. I did not get quite the 2.5 pounds I was looking for, turned out to be 3 pounds now. But it is a lot better than the 4.5 pounds I started out with. Thanks again for a quick fix.
This spring was an extremely cost efficient and easily installed fix to the poor trigger weight of the xbolt. I was on board with just selling my gun and buying something else because of the weight of the trigger. Now she is the tack driver that I actually paid for
I really didn’t like ripping the stock spring out but once I got over it I yanked it out and installed the new spring with a little loc-tite on the screw then checked my trigger pull 2lbs.8ozs. Perfect!
Was unable to adjust trigger pull on my x-bolt much below 4lbs. Ordered M Carbo trigger spring and it arrived promptly. Followed the video instructions on line. Removal of old spring is a little tedious, but can be done. Installation of new spring is simple. Was able to decrease trigger pull to a much more manageable 2lbs. It's like a new rifle!
Install of my part was fast and the only reason to think about each step was to insure safety was not compromised. Very happy with the results a simple spring has brought to my rifle. Now my Browning has a feather trigger.
ordered two of these. They are definitely worth it. I got frustrated trying to get the spring out on the first one but the second was easy after figuring out the removal from the first rifle. I did not pull the spring out like they did in the video. I used some ultra small flat head screw drivers and very small dental picks with tiny hook that I bent on the very tip to turn the top coil of the spring sideways working from the adjustment screw hole. After getting the top coil sideways I hooked it and pulled it up enough to get a small set of needle nosed pliars to pull it out from the screw hole. You will need small enough tools to hold the top coil sideways with one tool and hook it with the other. The correct tools will make a big difference in getting it out any way that you choose to do it. It was worth the frustration of getting the spring out. If you get frustrated with it just walk away, take a break relax don't loose faith in yourself. You might find another way than i did to get it out. Think about what tools you need or could make to get it out and you will succeed and will be well pleased with the cheapest and most useful upgrade that you will perform on your xbolt.
My new Hells Canyon Speed trigger pull was over 5lbs. I removed the set screw, and it was still 4.5lbs. I watched the updated video on how to install the spring, but tried it without punching out the pins. A little patience and the spring popped out. Put in the new MCARBO X-Bolt spring, reinstalled the set screw, and adjusted to a nice crisp consistent 3lbs.
