Got the Axis .270 at the Cabelas Black Friday Sale this year. The trigger was very heavy. A friend sent me a link to the trigger spring kit and it is a huge improvement. The installation video is perfect - it really is that easy to install.
Bought this for my sons rifle. It is a huge improvement over the factory trigger.
The axis pro trigger spring kit was incredibly easy to install only took about 5 minutes to complete, the difference in the trigger pull weight and how smooth it is is amazing. Worth every cent
Prior to installing this M*Carbo trigger kit, I measure the stock trigger and it averaged 6 lbs. 0.2 oz. from 7 pulls. I selected the 2.5 lb. trigger return spring because I prefer 2 lb. trigger pulls. Once installed, the trigger pull measured an average of 0 lbs. 13.9 ounces from 7 pulls. The trigger was insane and it definitely qualified as a hair trigger. That wasn’t what I was going for, so I went to the 3.5 lb. trigger. Once installed, it measured an average of 1lb. 11.1oz from 7 pulls.
This kit greatly improves the trigger pull and travel of the trigger. Would highly recommend for all savage axis gun owners.
I spent 12 minutes putting in the 2 1/2 lb. spring and shims. It was incredible - no travel, great reset, and I could feel what I was doing rather than concentrating on pulling hard without veering off due to the strong pull required. I took it back apart and replaced the 2 1/2 lb. spring with the 3 1/2 lb. spring. It was just as wonderful! This also took 12 minutes. I am not the greatest guy when it comes to working with my hands, either. So don't worry about doing this upgrade yourself. Just be sure to watch the video twice before you do it. I decided, at least for now, to leave the 3 1/2 spring in. My brother told me I should get an accutrigger. I am glad I went with MCarbo instead. I saved well over $110 and am thrilled with the feel of this trigger now. Again, I CAN"T BELIEVE IT! I am going to get the MCarbo AR 15 trigger (actually hammer) spring next.
I was skeptical to say the least, but I couldn't believe how much better it Made the whole rifle feel. The trigger is not particularly creepy to begin with. But it was definitely upwards of 6lbs to pull. The lighter 2.5lb spring was a little too light for me, but the 3.5 is perfect. Worth every penny for sure.
I installed this trigger spring kit on 2 savage axis youth rifles (WIN and Legend) and 2 regular Savage Axis rifles (.22-250 and .30-06). The .30-06 already had a really nice trigger, but this kit still improved it including removing the overtravel. The 350 legend was a really hard trigger, and this kit reduced it to what is almost too light for a beginning youth shooter. My kid loves it, and it has definitely improved his accuracy. The other 2 were in-between in quality, but this kit improved both of them. For me, this kit improved all 4 of my Axis rifles significantly reducing trigger pull and pretty much eliminating overtravel. The side to side wiggle is ~70% of what it was before I added this kit. For something so easy to change (20-25 minutes total for 4 guns!), it really did remove a lot of that annoying side wiggle. Again, all measurable-to-me overtravel was removed. One or 2 of the rifles still has a tiny bit of creep, but I can see that is relegated to the sear and not the spring. MCarbo's spring kit can't fix that, but it DID reduce it once that stuff spring was replaced.
First was a 22-250 that went from 3lb 9oz to 1lb 9oz (drop tested it myself because that's LIGHT, it was drop safe!) and used both shims to dramatically reduce trigger wobble. The second one I did was in a 6.5 Creedmoor, that one went from 3lb 6oz to 1lb 8oz (also drop tested safe), only used one shim/washer on that one as using both made it too tight.
I meant 5 stars on my review, Tom M from West by God..hope I didn’t mess up yer Battin average..axis pro trigger is Excellent!
Was in need of a budget rifle that shot decent. Was referred to the Savage Axis. After initial sight in I experienced the heavy trigger pull as stated in multiple reviews of this gun. Installed the Mcarbo pro kit and polished the trigger sear. The Axis is an entirely different gun with this spring kit. The groups on this .308 tightened up and trigger pull is noticeably lighter. Customer service seems to be excellent as they followed up to make sure the purchase and install went smoothly.
This kit took my wife’s savage axis 308 from a 6.5 lbs trigger pull to a 2 lbs pull. I am impressed with the kit and the customer service. This was my first time using MCarbo and I highly recommend them and the pro trigger kit
this trigger kit took a 7lb. rough creepy trigger to a smooth 3.5lbs. could not be happier ! only thing this company needs to succeed is spell ck. on reviews. sorry about that its here (never went that long with correct spelling) succeed has 2 c s
My Savage axis had a junk trigger with a heavy pull before installing this mod. Took 15 mins and even came with the grease. Instruction videos were a big help. The pull is now like glass and makes a huge improvement to the rifle.
I’m not the type to typically write reviews. The difference in the trigger after installing this kit could not be more profound. This gun went from having one of the worst triggers I’ve ever felt to having one of the better ones. All for $20 and 5 minutes of install time.
$20 for LITERALLY a match grade trigger. This took me less than 10 min to install. Can’t recommend enough!
