Excellent kit! Great tutorial! Worth every dime, and more! Thanks!
Well, I had just installed everything from the kit on my Mosin a few days ago and wow. This kit phenomenally improves the trigger. Like it's a night and day difference. Just follow along on their video and you'll be good to go. Don't bother with a timney trigger, this kit will do the same thing for a fraction of the price. Also you will still have the ability to use all of surplus trigger parts if needed. Buy the kit!
The MCARBO kit helped a lot, my 1942 M91/30 is a lot better. I was worried about the wall, set, whatever its called right before it breaks (that I didn't have before, hard to tell with all the rocks I was dragging over) I have it and can feel it. The video is good but doesn't spend enough (any?) time on the importance of the mating surfaces of the trigger cam on the sear spring. I had to spend a good deal of time polishing that to get a smooth pull. I see in the video the sear spring is shined up. I also shined the cam on the trigger with a strip of sandpaper. To keep the spring from coming off the sear, bend a little dog leg in it. I had to sand each side play shim down to .010 to get them both in. 5 stars if the sear spring/trigger cam polishing had been stressed more in the video. Keep up the good work!
I purchased this trigger kit for my Mosin, but have not installed it as yet. I'm posting, instead, go give credit where it is due for the great customer service. Somehow, the kit showed as being delivered to my mailbox, after I had received a confirmed shipping email and other follow-up from MCARBO, but it must have been misdelivered to someone lacking the courtesy to forward the parcel. I explained to MCARBO what I thought had happened, and they kindly and immediately sent a replacement at no charge, then followed up with me to make sure I got it. Calling them first-class or top shelf doesn't cut it. Their customer service is elite. Loyal customer for life.
Just installed mine and there is a phenomenal improvement. The trigger is smoother now with little to no side movement and slop. Trigger return spring works well and I decided to include the barrel lapping kit to complete my accurization project. As always, very pleased with your products!
My Mosin was in excellent condition when I bought it. It didn't see war. I used jewellers Rouge and a buffing wheel on my drill press to polish the bolt to a mirror finish. It's as smooth as any high priced rifle out there. I added a P U scope and the trigger kit. It's much improved and shoots great. Some call the Mosin a garbage rod, but if they shoot mine, they may change their mind. The trigger kit adds to the mods I've done and makes this rifle a great shooter. To other Mosin owners. Spend a few hours, polish the bolt and you'll be happy with the results. Thank you M*Carbo
This is my second kit purchased from MCARBO and this time I installed it on my M44 Mosin. I originally started off with a 5.5 lb trigger pull with a bit of slack and over travel . After installation, all slack was removed and over travel was severely diminished. The pull weight was reduced to 4.5 lbs which is a great improvement! BUY THIS KIT FIRST Before you modify and permanently ruin any of your authentic parts! This might be the only trigger improvement your rifle needs!
My 1943 Tula round receiver started off with 11.5 pounds of trigger pull, a ton of slack and play in the trigger. The trigger shims and spring removed most of that slack and play. With the rest of the kit the trigger pull was reduced to 8.5 pounds ! I then did a sanding/polishing job on the trigger sear spring to bring it to a mirror finish and that brought the trigger pull down to about 6.5 pounds! What a difference! Every mosin owner should install this kit first before they do any other trigger mods that permanently ruin authentic parts on their rifle. For some rifles this is the only money youll need to spend on the trigger!
I came across the Trigger Spring kit while searching for M91/30 improvements. I watched the 'how to' review and thought- "Gee, I could do that." So I ordered the Trigger Spring kit. The package arrived in the mail about 1 week later. I had a span of several hours to work on this one Saturday afternoon. So I watched the video again to make sure I was familiar with the procedure and what tools I would need to have. In short the whole process was super simple. If I can do it anyone can. The trigger pull on my rifle to start with was right at about 8.3 pounds. After this procedure, trigger pull was reduced to an average of 4.1 pounds. So it was a genuine improvement for sure. Do I recommend this kit? If you want to make your rifle a real shooter, spend 20 bucks on this kit, you won't regret it.
The kit comes as you see it. My only two issues are: the trigger return spring slips off the sear spring with ease and I had to place a horizontal spring to apply constant pressure against the vertical spring to make it all jive correctly. And 2: The sear shims were just big enough that during reassembly they got in the way and had to be somewhat crushed out of the way. The kit is a great low cost quick upgrade as advertised so there’s no hate from me just wasn’t expecting to get creative.
I ordered this item from your company because of what it came with and the overall look. My trigger is stable now, less trigger pull and a new firing pin spring. The only issue I have with it is the return spring does not stay on the sear, after 3 to 4 pulls on the trigger it slides off the side. In this position it can still be used as a return spring just not as effective if it were on top of the sear. A second spring or a spacer to hold the spring in place could fix this easy.
I love my trusty M44. As mosins go, it had a pretty good trigger when I got it. It was sitting at 4.5lbs with a fair amount of creep. After installing this kit it is averaging at just under 4lbs with far less creep! Great improvement. I used both sear shims and one trigger shim. The video on YouTube was quite helpful as well. I did not go crazy on the sanding or polishing, so I could see it being even a bit better, but as a range and occasional Whitetail rifle, I think it is great now.
This is an all around great kit and should be easy for anyone to install. My Mosin trigger wasn't terrible to start so I wasn't able to use the trigger shims (good thing). I did use the sear shims and that made a big difference in reducing the trigger travel required to break the shot. Installing the trigger return spring was easy easy and is probably the best part of the whole kit. Getting rid of all that excess take-up is a dream come true. Just to sure that when looking DOWN (muzzle away) on the receiver from the top, the spring is pushed all the way to the LEFT. If viewing it from the BOTTOM (muzzle away) the spring needs to be all the way to the RIGHT. This allows both legs of the spring to sit securely on the trigger and the sear. The one thing I didn't like about the kit was the HD firing pin spring. If you're NOT having an issue with light primer strikes, don't use it. It makes operating the bolt more difficult on unlock. I didn't have light primer strike issues but installed it anyway (whole package), operated the bolt a few times, removed it and put my original back in. I would also recommend dressing and polishing the engagement surfaces to smooth up the trigger feel. I'm a gunsmith so all of this is second nature but I assure you that ANYONE can dress and polish the engagement surfaces as well as install this kit. I would highly recommend both!
Easy to follow instructions. Everything worked as advertised. excellent quality materials. Less than an hour for the total project. My old rifle is really a pleasure to shoot after the trigger kit install.
Took out most all slop makes it feel good, and video is informative on how to do it. Thanks for a good product and especially thanks for all you that have given for my Freedom.
I ordered this item and received a timney trigger as a gift. I will be gifting this trigger kit to one of my friends for his Mosin, looking at everything it is of excellent quality and I’m sure he will be excited to receive and install it.
