Review
The factory trigger pull was brutal, this kit made it the way it should have been in the first place. Tremendous improvement in feel. Took me a bit to get it installed, my vision is not the best up close. The instructions were phenomenal and the spring is relatively easy to install. Would highly recommend.
Today was my first trip to the range with the SW9VE after installing the M*CARBO outer sear spring. Had to wrestle with the installation a bit (hey, that little pigtail spring is a booger...) but Chris's video was very helpful. The replacement spring made a _big_ improvement in the feel of the trigger. No question about it.
5 stars on the spring, but the dowel included (some kind of skinny polymer/epoxy like rod) was too long to allow reinsertion of metal spring mechanism back into the plastic housing. After fiddling with the included dowel off an on for about 3hrs, I ditched it for a round toothpick cut to proper length which fit right into the hole for the (final) metal pin through the torsion spring. This allowed insertion of the metal pin, for the torsion spring, to proceed with relative ease and took less than 2 minutes. After that, everything worked fine. Very pleased with the lighter trigger pull now. PS: A very small piece of 3mil laminating plastic, slipped into the side of the plastic housing, will keep the extended pin (connected eventially to the trigger mechanism) from falling out while you are trying to position and re-insert the pin for the torsion spring. It will eliminate the need to have to reinsert that 2nd pin in the oblong hole on the piece with the indentation for the spring. Once the torsion spring pin is in place, you can easy pull out the small piece of laminating plastic and the 2nd pin (connected to the trigger) will still be in place. Saves a lot of time and trouble and frustration.
This was an easy project... and it WORKS! My trigger pull was a ridiculous 11 lbs. Dropped it in half!
Quality, exact fit parts. The 'accessory pin' extra part used for re-assembly could be longer, and would make the reassembly of the trigger housing easier.
The spring kit arrived on schedule, service is good. Installation was fun. I used a fishing line to hold trigger spring in tension, holding line at tension as I pushed pin through so I did not have to use a micro tip screwdriver. It stayed in place and all I had to do was pull line when pin was in place...presto. No adjustment necessary. The pull weight of trigger is excellent and everything functions as it is engineered to do. I would recommend this product to anybody, and now the SD40VE is better than any Glock I have fired, noting that Glock makes excellent handguns. Thank you for good service, a reasonably priced product, and for serving our country well. I appreciate it! God bless, happy shooting, and keep up the good work.
I changed out the factory spring with the M.Carbo spring easily. It reduced the tension significantly!
I just finished installing the new spring in my SW 40 VE. I have big fat fingers & 65-year-old eyes. I accomplished this with no effort or anxiety. The trigger pull weight reduction makes it all worth it. I recommend watching the video Chris has on YouTube a couple times before you start.
So far I'm pleased with the trigger spring for the S&W sigma .40. I'm not sure if it's as light as 5lbs, but it is better than original.
This was my first time modifying a weapon and it went amazingly smooth with the video and included part. Much smoother and lighter trigger pul . Once this 'Rona lockdown is over I'm going to the range!!
Wasn't the easiest thing I have ever done. I would suggest having a gunsmith do it for you if you are like me and have neuropathy in your hands. It took about 30 min and a lot of frustration but thats because I can't feel my fingertips. Just so happens that is an important piece of information I did not have. Bottom line was it worth all the frustration of dropping the pins out time and again? Oh yeah, a brand new and improved pew pew. It feels like a well oiled machine. I imagine it would be perfect if it was polished.
As most of you know the sw40ve tigger is junk this spring did help a lot.
I chose to go with M*CARBO because I like to support local businesses in Florida. Obviously I ordered this to reduce the trigger LB on the S&W. So, it definitely reduced the LB of the trigger which is good. The only thing not good was the reset of the trigger which in my opinion did not change much or at all. Overall I would recommend the product for the reduced trigger pull.
Fits well easy to do
Definitely worth the money and drops the trigger weight. Install is slightly more of a pain then most, but worth it.
The video is great. I watched it more than 6 times before disassembly. Nevertheless, I took some photos pre-disassembly. The first challenge was the inner spring (that is retained) that is at least 1/4 inch longer than the MCARBO replacement spring. To prevent the smaller diameter spring from bending over the MCARBO spring required a lot of patience and the use of needle nose pliers to align both springs. The second challenge was the pigtail spring. The alignment dowel was too short and not an interference fit. For me, the alignment dowel was useless. I used the end of a drill bit to align everything before inserting the pin. Before inserting the entire assembly in the pistol housing I thoroughly lubricated it with BreakFree (mil. spec.) Final result was acceptable. Not having a gauge to measure pull, I would estimate an approximate 40% reduction in pull effort.
