I just installed this KEL-TEC SUB-2000 Integrated Tool-Less Locking Pin for Aftermarket Charging Handles in my Mcarbo Limited Edition Sub2K. I placed one end of the spring assembly in a vise and had my wife place the supplied allen wrench through the spring while i compressed it. It was easy and quick. This upgrade makes disassembly and reassembly much easier.
Your tooless locking pin for aftermarket charging handles for the Kel-tec 2000 is a great improvement. Quality part and your instruction videos help tremendously. Thank youl.
I drilled a 3/8 hole in center of 2x6. To give me stability. It was a little tuff but don’t give up really good addition.
Why don’t you guys sell the locking pin already installed on the spring? I would be the first in line to purchase.
This thing was a bear to install but with my (admittedly liberal) wife I got it on and it is a BIG improvement. Love it guys keep up the good work.
This may be an excellent upgrade BUT after a few attempts, I have not been able to install the product.
As Kris said, this is how the upgrade should have been from the beginning. I understand that it was a result of the feedback from the forum. Having a partner for installation was helpful, as it did not require complete disassembly of the recoil spring and retention loops. As far as performance in reassembly, it performed as expected, only requiring turning of the recoil spring to align the tab on the button to align with the notch on the charging handle. I installed mine on the two-finger charging handle.
Installation was easy for me. Just watch the installation video. I drilled a 3/8 hole in a scrap piece of 2x4 then clamped the 2x4 to my work table. a solid work station gave this 57 year old all the leverage I needed to compress the spring. It only took a few minutes to get the new pin installed and a micro second to locate the pin in the charging handle.
Can be a bit of a pain to install but it locks the charging handle up tight to the bolt and does it much better than the original factory setup! Like everything else MCARBO, it is well worth the small price for the added peace of mind!
After watching the supplied video, it wasn't so bad to install. After aligning everything I had a positive lock up with the "pin" and the "hole" in the charging handle.
I would have paid more to receive a new recoil spring with the locking pin already attached. This was the most difficult part of my modifications. I simply do have the "M.A.N." strength being in my 50's and this made an AK47 spring seem like child's play and I griped and moaned the whole time doing it. Almost to the point of mailing it to MCARBO and paying the $95 but was able to finally rig up a wooden jig from a couple 2x4's that did the trick. But I would have GLADLY paid $50-60 and then returned my original spring assembly if it was already installed. This charging handle is a forever handle now. Please offer "installed option" for us old guys with grown kids that have moved out.
A real bear to install, even after following the YouTube video. Clockwise? Counterclockwise? Eventually I got it installed but two hours later my arthritic fingers still hurt. There's this crease on my index finger that hasn't gone away. But enough of whining. Real easy to index the part and click it into place on the recoilless charging handle.
This thing was a pain to install. What I did was lock the Allen wrench between the two wires and then twisted the spring like a bolt. The Allen key holds the tension in place so you can work on the other end without having to compress it like a smooth brained ape lol
I was extremely happy to see this new addition to the MCARBO line up. Extremely easy to install (watch the video). I drilled a 3/8" hole in a piece of 2x4 instead of a block, and it worked perfect. Total install took 5 minutes. This made reassembly much faster, no more messing with a light and screwdrive .
I'd give it 0 stars if possible. I type this review slowly, as I am short being able to use my left index finger - the 'special' allen wrench put a nice hole through my finger when the spring slipped in the block and the tension was discharged into my finger. On the up side...wait, there is no up side. Now I have a recoil spring I cannot use because I can't get it back together; and a useless aftermarket charging handle from you that I can't use once I get a new factory recoil spring. At least the factory parts will be here in a few days. Either put them together yourself and sell the recoil spring/adapter as a unit or go back to machining the aftermarket charging handles so they will work with the stock spring. As it is, I never would have bought the charging handle if I had known in advance the pain it is to try and install.
I bought this recently and use it along with the recoilless charging handle. Makes a big difference in charging handle stability. I love the fact M*CARBO is even trying to improve THEIR OWN STUFF!! I use a Walmart bought Stanley magnetic screw driver to install and remove the part. I've found when your installing the part pull down on the charging handle when the part is in place and that provides enough resistance for the screw driver to come out leaving the part in place.
