Review
I really like the fit and finish of the buttstock pad. It was simple to install. I'd like to see a bit more soft material for recoil abortion. But it is a great improvement to the sub 2000's hard plastic buttstock.
The butt extension is good. I'm 6' with 6'4" wing span. This extension is good could be a bit longer but definitely helps me. The install requires some drilling through the stock plastic stock. Watch the M Carbo video makes it easier. I could see how someone could crack the plastic butt stock in the process. Use a lower torque setting on your drill. Might not be a bad idea to step up the drill bit between the 1/8" bit and the 1/4" bit. I myself had no issues during the install. Thanks.
It helps soften recoil when extended fireing of rifle
The Kel-Tec kicks, wouldn’t have believed it. I ordered this immediately and put it on. The video directions were on point! The butt pad is fantastic and makes shooting smooth.
This product was a nice upgrade to my S2000. Simple and easy to install. As all M-Carbo products spot on.
A little confusion about mounting at first as the nuts were packaged apart from the buttpad among other parts in order but figured it out with video. Once figured that out, install was easy for an effective recoil reducer.
I got my new buttstock pad installed. As I'd hoped, it DID improve my sight picture with the slight increase in LOP. I haven't been to the range yet, but I suspect that it will also improve cheek positioning under fire.
This is really a solid product and one I would consider a base investment for the sub2K. The out-of-the-box stock is uncomfortable and too short for MCARBO brothers of the taller persuasion and this directly addresses those issues. 4 Star rating is due to the mis-cast part I received, that offered an added challenge to my install. I'm sure Chris and crew would've taken good care of me if I went through the trouble to send it back. One of the four moulded screw tunnels had enough extra flashing to deform the screw hole completely. With a ton of extra drilling and filing/cutting on the buttstock, as well as the buttstock pad, I was able to make it work. Be very careful on the install, as your margin for error on the upper two screws is slim to none. The nut for the MCarbo part is extremely close to one of the molded KelTec features.
Haven't fired the weapon with it installed as of yet but it certainly gives a better feel in the shoulder pocket, feels more solid and planted. As a 6' 5" knuckle-dragger, I appreciate the added length of pull as well. Seems like a well designed part, and for that alone I give 5 stars (I'm a designer by trade).
This is not a simple plug and play piece, you will need to have a drill and a decent selection of drill bits in order to get this installed. It will also force you to have the longest length of pull at 14 in if you want to retain the ability to retain the gun folded. The front sight block cannot hide within the stock when the buffer pad is in the way. If you guys at MCARBO are listening, a V2 would be pretty awesome, one with a slot cut out for the front sight block if possible.
The install was easy enough and the pad is way more comfy than just hard plastic. I do wish the pad had a little more give.
Great product and awesome upgrade. Very easy to install if you watch the how-to video beforehand..... Night and day difference!!!
Works good, solid installation. Hardest part was aligning the holes, holding pad exactly where it needed to be.
I can see why he said "stoked!" so many times. I purchased the buttstock to lengthen the S2K G2 so I would be able to sight better. And it did exactly that! I don't feel much recoil with a 9mm but it should help with that, too. Very precise fit and very precise instructions. I skipped the marking step and just (very carefully) taped the part to the stock and drilled the pilot holes. Then I followed the video from there. Very happy with the company's follow-up emails and the quality of the product. Can't wait to get the $ to order the sight for a red dot. Thanks MCarbo!
I had the competition's slip on butt-stock; it was ok. I hesitated replacing it with the Mcarbo butt-stock but I am glad I did. It's firm yet absorbs a surprising amount of recoil.
Great product as usual from MCARBO. Good quality and easy Installation with the video help. Nice solution to an on going problem. Looking forward to the red dot scope mount as soon as it is available .
