Review
I should have bought these forever ago. The factory trigger was pretty terrible. Haven't gotten to the range yet, but I am certain my shots will be much more accurate since I'm not dealing with a long and heavy pull anymore. Trigger pull is now comparable to my S&W double action revolver.
I was looking forward to a full M*CARBO overhaul on my PF9. Ordered the flat trigger kit, recoil spring kit, and guide rod. Unfortunately, when I tried to install the firing spring kit, the spring diameter was too big to fit into the channel and string be compressible--it bound up in the channel. (I had thoroughly cleaned the channel prior to attempting installation, and the stock spring slips in and out without issues.) The result was that the lighter hammer spring was incompatible with the stock firing pin spring, causing a light strike misfire about every other shot. I kept the recoil springs and guide rod, and the flat trigger, and replaced the firing pin, FP spring, and hammer assembly with stock gear from KT (VASTLY less expensive than M*CARBO parts, incidentally...). So I wound up with a much nicer trigger that's still about 5 pounds, and an easier-to-run slide. Haven't been back to the range yet, but looking forward to testing the results. Disappointed that the spendy M*CARBO part didn't fit, but I'm quite happy with the guide rod and springs, and the trigger itself (if not its weight).
The spring kit will do what I expected.....M CARBO does more than I expect.....when they have service and prices like this, they will get all of my business...Thanks for a company that does what they claim! rsbhunter
From start to finish this is a great company to work with. Order this and it was shipped and they followed up to see how things went. The install was a bit tricky BUT was well detailed on how to do it in the video so all was good. Works great and the quality is top notch. I was not able to put the new firing pin spring in because I couldn't" get the screw out. Not MCARBOs fault.
It's a vast improvement over the original But for some reason I was getting Light primer strikes On the third and fourth round in the magazine but after about 50 roundsIt started function correctly. (115gr Hornady Critical Defense &115gr Sig Sauer Elite Defense) Break-In period?, I don't think so as the Pistol already has about 600 rounds Pistol already has about 600 rounds Hornady CD through it already and I've been carrying it for over 10yrs now. But hey it works now!
This was a very easy upgrade to my PF9 that produced outstanding results
Lives up to the claim...nice trigger pull reduction. Makes the PF9 much more enjoyable to shoot. Installation instructions were stellar and the youtube video was comprehensive. Had a small problem with the trigger axis return spring and M*CARBO was quick on the response.
Excellent product. Very easy to install. It took me less than an hour to install.
Improved trigger feel and hammer strike. Videos make installation easy.
Bought and installed all items per video. Everything worked as advertised. However, it would be a great addition to add a short clip of how to reinstall the sear if you accidentally take it out. ;)
I purchased the PF9 spring kit and flat trigger from M*CARBO and had them to install it, I could not be happier, I have several higher price pistols and the upgrade that M*CARBO did to my PF9 put it right up there close to my other pistols. Whenever I need any firearm parts or gunsmith work M*CARBO Veterans with American made parts will get my business.
I ordered the following parts for the PF-9 on April 29: 20 pound recoil spring Trigger spring kit Flat trigger SS guide rod Textured grips Bench block Due to unavailability of parts, these parts didn't arrive until Jun 13. All of the parts were installed at one sitting as I didn't want to disassemble the gun more than one time. Following the videos on the MCARBO website, the parts were installed without any problems and the changes in the gun's operation were very noticeable and made the PF-9 much more enjoyable to shoot. The process was easy and enjoyable, but patience and a little mechanical skill are required as some of the parts are very small and reassembly does take a little dexterity and finesse. However, the parts are well made, fit like a glove, and are well worth the time and expense to install on your PF-9. They will definitely improve the weapon.
Shot 115 gr FMC from Magtech, Sellier & Belloit and Winchester. All experienced an occasional light primer strike and FTEs. I did the complete PF-9 mod. The gun shot perfectly prior to the mod. It ate everything and now it's acting up. Any suggestions as to what I should do or what ammo you have had 100% reliability with after a complete "upgrade" would be greatly appreciated. Is there a sequence in reverting to OEM springs to resolve issues? e.g. replace hammer spring first or firing spring first then the trigger or firing pin.
Makes the double action on my pf9 much more manageable!
I swapped springs, rod and trigger with M*Carbo replacement parts. My PF-9s are now a pleasure to shoot. Made a world of difference. If you like your original PF-9, you'll Love it after installing the M*Carbo parts.
