I bought this Model 60 kit to improve the trigger pull in my 1960s vintage Marlin Model 99C since it was the Marlin brand predecessor to the current Model 60 (originally the Model 60 was a Glenfield brand rifle.) Viewed the excellent MCARBO video and then broke down my Model 99 and soon realized I could be in trouble. The Model 99 sear spring and disconnect spring were different shapes than those in the kit (and yes I know that the MCARBO disconnect spring has a longer straight end - I watched the video.) Now someone who is good at cutting and bending springs (i.e., a gunsmith) could have easily modified the MCARBO springs to fit but I decided instead to use the kit in my 70PSS Papoose. The only difference between the Marlin 60 kit and the Marlin 795 kit (which also fits Model 70s) is the length of the straight end on the sear spring. The one in the 60 kit is longer but even I can cut and trim it to fit. So that's what I did. And just like the MCARBO kit I had installed before in a Model 7000 it made a world of difference in the 70PSS trigger pull. SO four stars since the kit did improve the trigger pull on one of my Marlins. Just not the one I ordered it for. Now MCARBO never said the kit would work in a Model 99C - I assumed it would. Don't assume like I did - if you have an vintage Marlin semi-auto tear it down first and compare what you see to their video. And even if you have the old style disconnect and sear springs the kit may still be worth the $30 since the trigger and hammer springs are still drop in and you may be better at bending and cutting springs to fit.
My Marlin 60 trigger is much smoother than before the new spring set. It is an older model and the very clear video instructions made the conversion easy. Not all elements of the videos applied as the older trigger is metal. I was done in an hour, some of which was spent cleaning up the grit in the action. Thanks!
Fast shipping and follow up with an email and link to the instructional video for the model 60 spring kit. The video is well done and essential to proper installation. I haven't been to the range yet but i can tell by dry firing the desired result has been achieved. In addition I emailed Chris about the possibility of a trigger kit for a Model 25 Marlin/Glenfield and he responded that he would pass the request on to the design team to consider.
In an email I'm carbo asked if they delivered... Hell yes they delivered! In my opinion the best in the business. Multiple model 60 Marlin builds and never a disappointing moment with this company
I just purchased a new (Remlin) Marlin 60 and the trigger pull was gritty and heavy. I read on several forums about this M Carbo Spring kit for the M60. I ordered and received my spring kit very quickly and just finished installing it today. It was easy to install (only took about 45 min.) I watched the site provided video and followed it exactly step for step and the install was simple. Thanks M Carbo for a great product and quick shipping. You have made my Marlin 60 a great squirrel gun! Now I'm waiting on a DIP Target trigger to arrive!
Great spring kit. Was a breeze to install following the M*CARBO installation video.
The receiver mechanism on the Marlin model 60 was always intimidating to me but with the Mcarbo video instructions it was like putting a puzzle together. The only thing I needed help with was the hammer spring, I needed the wife to re-insert the paper clip. The kit probably reduced the trigger pull by half. If a 76 year old Air Defense Artillery guy can do it, anybody can.
Makes a big difference. My rifle shoots much better!
The springs were easier to install than the cleaning my 33 year old gun needed. I got my model 60 about 7 years ago, but the 2 main screw heads had the slot stripped out and the trigger guard cracked in 3 places, so I never got around to a deep clean until now. It still shot like a dream for accuracy, it just had a stupid hard and sloppy trigger. The old owner put about 20K rounds through. I've done another 2k with the kids. Pretty sure he didn't deep clean it, ever. With the grime and gunk in the receiver I had a 12.5 lb trigger pull, with tons of slop and a long travel, mushy, yet crunchy reset. After deep cleaning, a new DIP billet trigger guard, billet adjustable trigger, high velocity M*CARBO main spring, and fresh main bolts it was still 6.9lbs. No more crunch, but still hard. With this kit, it's now like breaking glass and crisp as can be. The pull is now 3.5lbs consistently. Coupled with the adjustable take up on the trigger and overtravel stop on the trigger gaurd, the trigger is now as close to perfect as a .22 has ever been. No overtravel, no slop, just crisp clean break and a short, crisp reset. I can empty the 18rds in no time, while staying dead on my sight picture with no movement from trigger actuation. In comparison my long distance rifle has a custom trigger that is about point five percent (.5%)better, yet cost me almost $500! And it's just slightly lighter pull and slightly crisper break. I mean you have to back to back them 10 times in a row to even feel that, if you are lucky. The Wife and kids couldn't feel ANY difference. The best thing about M*CARBO? They didn't break my bank and hangs up there with my custom trigger. It shipped fast, with me getting it under 3 days. Veteran owned and operated and they are nice towards law enforcement, a rarity in today's marketplace. M*CARBO might just be my new favorite company.
I got my Marlin 60 trigger kit in record time! I found the installation video on Youtube and had it installed in about 15 minutes. I loaded up the rifle and fired some rounds at my target, and needless to say I am thrilled about the difference this kit made in the way my rifle shoots. Only half the pull and increased accuracy! What more could any shooter want? Thanks for a great product! I’ll definitely be recommending your kits to my fellow shooters.
Quite simply the easiest, fastest, and least expensive way to vastly improve the trigger on your '60.
Several months ago I ordered a Marlin Model 60 trigger spring kit. I soon discovered that I am a mechanical idiot. I failed miserably at attempts to install properly. Even after watching their excellent instruction video. A few days ago I mailed all the pertinent internal parts and promptly received notation that they received the parts and it was in the line to be installed. Got a note yesterday that the parts are on my way. Can't beat that service and attention to detail.
Thanks for all your help. The Marlin Model 60 Trigger Spring Kit you folks installed made a big positive improvement. You're follow up and attention to detail was excellent. Thanks a lot!
Really pleased with the results you provided when you installed the Marlin Model 60 trigger spring kit. Big improvement. Thanks
Easy to install following the video and had no issues. Parts fit well with no real issues. When I took it to the range, I had a number of misfires which may be the trigger spring but could also be the ammunition. Will take it to the range again with CCI ammo and will know if it was the trigger spring or ammo. Remington ammo is dirty and that may have caused some issues and CCI is a little cleaner. Easy install, good results..
I really like this kit and with the MCARBO installation video made installation a breeze. I will definitely tell friends and relatives that have an old 60 to get this kit
