Review
easy install. much smoother trigger pull with a little cleaning and a touch of grease . the wife thinks I'm a pro lol
MCarbo has sent me a few notices inviting me to write a review. As of now I do not have a success story to write about but let me explain. I had a S&W 642 a while back and I installed a spring kit (not MCarbo) that did bring the 12 lb. trigger pull down to 9 lbs. I sold that gun and purchased a S&W Performance Center 642 with enhanced action work. It was received with a 12 lb. trigger pull which is not what I like. So, I purchased the Wilson Combat trigger spring kit and installed it and the pull weight did not budge (with all springs being tested). I then purchased this trigger spring kit and installed it and there was, on average, a 2-3 oz. improvement. Not very good. I currently have an email in to MCarbo to help me figure out what the problem is. Is there something special about the S&W PC 642 EA or what? Hopefully we can find the solution. I will also call if need be and I can contact Smith-Wesson as well - although I really do not want to do that because it probably goes against their warranty. Anyway - I currently do not think the problem is with MCarbo's product now Wilson Combat's but I do want a fix. Also, cannot give a rating until I know where the problem is.
Did not work with my S&W 357 J Frame would not reset trigger
Followed steps on u tube video, simple and straight forward. However the trigger on the 642 went from 12 lbs to 11 lbs. Not exactly what I expected. Is there a remedy for this ? Have others experienced this result? Any help or suggestions? Thank you.
This was really easy and quick. Just follow the video. Trigger pull had a nice drop-off in pounds required. All of their products are just as advertised. Also used their products on Kel-Tec PF-9 and S&W "J" frame
The installation was very easy - just need to take your time. Reduced trigger pull on the S&W 637 from 11lb 8 oz to 6 lb 9 oz. (your results may vary) Huge improvement at a very reasonable price.
Never measured a trigger on my wife's J Frame but I can tell it was hard to pull. Not impossible but pretty hard. Ordering the kt from M*CARBO was easy and it came quickly. I ordered a spring kit for my Ruger the same day from Wolff Springs and am still waiting for the conformation that it's shipped 7 days later. Springs were easy to install. Watched a couple of videos on YouTube so it took about 10 minutes being I had never changes springs before. M*CARBO followed up with me after the order insuring I got the springs and that all was right. Would not hesitate to order from them again. They are "A" Game
Installing this spring kit did reduce the double action on my wife's S&W model 60 significantly. Thank you Mcarbo!
The S&W J frame hammer and trigger spring kit was easy to install especially with the videos available. The kit reduced the trigger pull pressure and improved my aim. Thanks Carl
after watching the video on installation, I ordered the J-frame spring kit. very quick shipping and arrived as described. I was unable to use the trigger return spring, it was just a bit light from allowing the revolver trigger to reset. so with the lighter hammer spring and factory trigger return spring the heavy pull is better, but still heavy.
The factory trigger , even after plenty of break in firing is quite stiff. The spring combo provided here is balanced and a noticeable improvement. My 442 is now easier to fire multiple rounds faster. The video shows how simple it is.
First off the quality is great. My girlfriend was looking for a gun she can operate, and not really taking to the slides of semiautomatics, and talking with her dad (a cop) she wanted to get a 357 but shoot 38 specials because the larger frame means reduced recoil. That's fine and all, and they happened to have one for sale where I'm at, one out of maybe a dozen guns left in the store... well that's all great but taking it to the range I would see it shake as she tried to smoothly pull the trigger because... the 10lb trigger maybe a little more. No matter how much she tried to smooth it out it was almost comical as it would start to vibrate from the strain of her finger. Fine for a 6 foot target... shot once (barely). Her dad said she needed a trigger job, and of course I've heard the name, but I had no idea what they really did, thinking physics I thought maybe they adjusted the pivot points or whatever. Turns out, it's two springs that you can replace yourself after watching the great video they supply! And not to mention the easy price they sell at, I've spent a lot more on a gun and got a lot less. She told her dad I was going to do it and of course he asked "does he know what he's doing?" Yes I do thanks to M-Carbo, I was able to swap the springs out in less than 20 minutes, now she has no issue pulling the trigger in double action, no more shaking hands trying to fight the trigger, and I think I impressed her dad (maybe...).
My wife was reluctant to use her Ladysmith revolver because of the trigger pull. I purchased this kit to see if it would help. Less than an hour work at the bench and the gun operates much easier now! She enjoys shooting this gun again.
I had first installed the Apex kit and the trigger return was horrible, very gritty. I installed this kit and what a difference !!
Followed the video and had no problems. My wife says she can tell a big difference
Spring kit arrived sooner that expected. Installation of mainspring and trigger return spring straight forward and took about 15 minutes. Have not taken to range to test but trigger pull is greatly enhanced. I tried a kit from Apex. Good but not good enough. I would suggest providing a longer firing pin and spring if we are going to take some tension off mainspring. I installed the one that came with the Apex kit. Getting ready to order two more J frame spring kits for two other J frames that could use the upgrade. Especially the one my wife carries. Former Air Force Security Service, Vietnam Era. Former Special Agent, FBI. Firearms Instructor, SWAT team.
