Excellent fit
Awesome thank you
Great deal, good kit, easy to install, now I enjoy shooting my J-Frame. Thank you!
All 4 springs came individually packaged in well labelled bags, which helped tremendously with installation and retention of the original springs. I found installation to be fairly easy just following some instructionals from youtube, though if you don't have the right tools or haven't built a firearm before, you may consider taking it to a gunsmith. Definitely do this in a clean and uncarpeted work area if you do, though, as a couple of the springs and some loose internal components can and probably will fall on the floor. This kit along with some very light polishing and lubrication has definitely improved the feel of the trigger tremendously, which with practice should hopefully show at the range.
Excellent product as I have come to expect from Mcarbo made my trigger pull extremely manageable
I installed the hammer/trigger spring kit on a mid 1960’s model 36 Chiefs Special. This revolver was purchased by my mother-in-law (age 88!) because it reminded her of the revolver her father owned. With this kit and a new Hogue grip, this baby is now easy and fun to shoot, and surprisingly accurate. You should get this kit!
My wife needed a carry weapon but the DA trigger on her S&W J-Frame was difficult for her arthritic hands. Installation was easy following the directions in the video and she loves the results! We both feel better knowing she is better able to operate her new EDC.
My trigger scale would error out because the trigger was so bad on my 80's Model 60. I installed this kit and brought the double action down to just under 9 lbs and the single to 2.5.
THIS IS AN EASY AND INEXPENSIVE WAY FOR A REDUCED TRIGGER PULL. TAKE YOUR TIME AND FOLLOW THE VIDEO. I WILL ADD WHEN REMOVING THE SIDE PLATE TAKE A RUBBER HANDLE SCREWDRIVER AND RAP ON THE BACK AND BOTTOM OF THE GRIP FRAME DON'T PRY ON THE SIDE PLATE ESPECIALLY THE OLDER MODELS THEY FIT TIGHT.
Great trigger now, After the easy install the trigger felt great, before I couldn't stand it
I bought my Model 36 many years ago(for 239 dollars) and I never liked the trigger pull in double action mode. And single action is too dangerous. I passed this gun on to replace a glock in my family BUT..... same horrible trigger pull. Then I read that the trigger pull has always been hated by model 36 owners. I saw the website for Mcarbo but more importantly watched the video(several times). The video is well-done and easy to follow so the new springs along with hogue grips and Norma self-defense ammo now make for a perfect conceal/carry weapon.
I finally got around to my S&W 642 and has the same issue as with my 638. The hammer spring helps a lot, but the trigger return spring just isn't strong enough to reset the trigger EVERY time. I think it may possibly be one of two things. One, the trigger return spring is too weak, or the safety transfer bar on these Airweights need a stronger trigger return spring. Either way I highly recommend the hammer spring. This definitely makes it easier for my mother, who is elderly, able to carry and use this revolver no problems. That few pounds of pull makes a difference for her. For me, it just feels better, but to pay for a set of two springs and only use one, seems like a waste. So if you own a S&W 638 or 642 Airweight with the safety transfer bar, just replace the hammer spring. It will save you all the extra time of fidgeting with the trigger spring, twice. I would order more hammer springs if they were sold separately, but for the rest of all my j-frames, I will look elsewhere for just hammer spring replacements.
Made a huge improvement. The Wheeler gauge only measures to 12 pounds and the factory triggers maxed the gauge every time. This is a major improvement in a firearm that simply by design is difficult to manage. Thank you M*CARBO for the good work.
This was an easy install. The video is a must, thank you! I am very pleased with the trigger now. Nice, nice update.
It totally changed the gun! The lighter trigger pull makes all the difference in how accurate you can be with this gun. I know this is a self defense/carry gun but it makes shooting it at the range fun because you can be accurate past 5yards. The installation video put out by the tech for the total spring job (not the old video for fewer spring replacement) was spot on. Anybody reading this....YOU CAN DO THIS JOB. Thanks M-Carbo!!!!!
These springs were delivered exactly when I was told they would be and the installation video provided by M*Carbo on YouTube was spot on and very helpful. The quality is very good and although I haven't shot the pistol since I changed out the springs, I'm not expecting any problems. The spring swap went smoothly and just like the YouTube video -except- for replacing the side plate. It seemed to be rocking on something just above the trigger and right behind the wheel. I fussed a little and it finally set in place; I replaced the grips and now I'm ready to hit the range. This was on my S&W 637 Airweight. They claim trigger pull reduction was about a 40% for double-action but I believe that was on a model 642. Mine was still acceptable at: Single Action - 40% Pre-swap - 3.5# Post-swap - 2+# Double Action - 20% Pre-swap - 12.5# Post-swap - 10# All in all, I am happy with this whole experience. Thanks M*Carbo.
