I bought a new Remington 597 counting on Remington to have corrected the shortcomings that received so many negative reviews. I was wrong! After over a year of negative reviews I found the rifle still almost required two fingers to fire the damn thing!

I followed the lead of many other posters on the 597 forums and ordered the Volquartsen hammer and the Mcarbo spring kit and installed this combination.

The hammer went in without a hitch because there's no way it can go in backwards. However, I did have a problem installing the Mcarbo spring kit. I installed the spring in backwards five (5) times! This was after reading the instructions several times as well as watching the Youtube installation several times.

When I installed it I installed it exactly like Remington had THEIR spring installed, which is WRONG way to install the Mcarbo spring. This was an 80 year old taking a mind fart to a whole new level.

To save a lot of grief and put a simplistic spin on rather you have the spring installed backwards pay attention to the position of the hammer after the spring is installed. Looking at the side of the trigger group, if the hammer rests to the RIGHT of vertical (toward the back of the trigger group) when resting on the Mcarbo spring LOOP, you have it in backwards!

If the hammer rests to the left of vertical (toward the front of the trigger group) when resting against the spring LOOP then the spring is in correctly.

This means that when you have it installed properly, you will push the hammer up past vertical and down to cock it.

I have to thank Chris for his patient explanation to help me get it right the sixth and final time. The resulting modification to this trigger was amazing. It went from a white knuckle pull to an approximate 3lb pull which breaks like a glass rod. Now I have a rifle that fires like it should. The Mcarbo spring bushings that replaces the Remington plastic POS bushings is a definite improvement as well. This will be seen when you remove the loose plastic bushings.

The money for this spring kit is well worth it!

The delivery was fast, but it took a couple of week to find the time to install the hammer spring kit; and I was not disappointed. The installation was simple, and as promised the trigger pull went down from 4.5 lb to 3.5 lb.

This is the second spring kit that I have purchased and installed into a 597, I love these kits, I ended up with about a 3.4 lb trigger pull after the new kit was installed, which is comfortable for me and just what I was hoping for. If I buy a 3rd 597, you can bet I will be getting another kit and would definitely recommend this to my friends! Try it out and enjoy shooting your 597!

597!

The spring and aluminum bushings fit great. Hmmm I would definitely re-engineer or change the wording regarding the lighter trigger. It feels a little better but not by much!. After spring install I had feed issues which I have not experienced a lot of and plus I have a match on Sunday with this rifle. I would of preferred a hammer and spring kit together as a full change out kit (just a thought)

Please reconsider the wire gage and re-evaluate the spring!

Thank you......

Unbelievable

So I been wanting to get back into squirrel hunting but literally hated my Remington Model 597 .22 with almost 6lbs. trigger pull. So not really wanting to use a shotgun. I started looking into getting trigger work done on my 597. Then I came across Mcarbo website. I read every review on the 597 pro trigger kit. After careful consideration I took the plunge and brought it. Installation instructions were very detailed. Ya'll I got that trigger group in and used a cheap fishing scale to check the pull and I'm not lying but I now have close to a 1lbs flat trigger pull. Oh I forgot to mention I brought this kit on Thursday morning and I had it in my hands Saturdayon standard shipping. Thanks MCarbo for making a fantastic product and fast shipping.

! previously reviewed with just the installation of the spring kit. I have since installed the Volquartsen hammer in my Yellow Jacket, and it brought my trigger pull down another 1/2 lb to 3.5. These products work well in conjuction to produce a light crisp trigger in my firearm.

Very pleased!

I put this spring kit in a Remington 597 Magnum that already had the Volquartsen trigger. It took my trigger pull from 6# 7oz. to 2# 10oz. Amazingly easy to install and works perfectly! Thanks for a great product.

My 597 went from "hey I think I've got my finger on the trigger guard instead of the trigger" to "wow that's a nice, consistent trigger. I can actually shoot this!!". Installation took a couple tries to get everything lined up....maybe five-ten minutes...just watch the video and "fiddle" with it a little and you won't have any problems. Well worth the $!!!

So whatch the insulation video to upgrade my trigger. And the video shows a pro kit. I seem to be having a hard time finding the pro kit. So I order what I could find.

I have two of these rifles, 1 for each of my daughters. The first one I purchased has a pretty decent trigger and I have been impressed with the accuracy of the 597. When I purchased my second 597, I was frustrated at how terrible the trigger was. Total crap. I don't have a scale, but i have match rifles and factory glocks. The trigger had to be twice the factory glock 19 trigger pull. It was ridiculous. I could not hold a group, let alone an 8 year old. So I purchased this trigger kit, hoping it would help. After installation and a trip to the range, I was amazed at the difference. I ordered a second one as well for my first 597 hoping to further smooth that trigger out. Today is July 14, 2016 and my second spring kit will arrive today. Once installed and tested, I will follow up on that one as well. Bottom line though, these are great rifles, but without a great trigger, they are worthless.
