Sadly the Ruger Original Equipment Extractor does not own up to the Ruger name. It is extremely soft metal, the extractor "hook", is more the size of a "burr", and it just doesn't work. This Ruger PC Carbine Exact Edge Extractor, is the cure. Large masculine size hook, with a notch that will hold the case rim. Ruger should just buy these and install them. Excellent design, flawless function, and worth every penny including shipping.
I don't know what Ruger was thinking when they made their extractors for these carbines BUT, mine began to fail in less than a year. Failure begins with the infrequent " stovepipe " on ejection. Let me say, right here, Don't wait and quit trying to figure it out,,, order the MCarbo extractor ! It's a whole different part; precision cut tool steel and fits great into the bolt. I know they say that you should have a gunsmith do the work but, if you can clean your carbine, you can do this replacement and, be a REALLY happy shooter !
So far I've installed pretty much everything mcarbo has manufactured so far for the Ruger PCC9, great firearm right out of the box but wow what a difference the springs, trigger, muzzle brake and now the extractor and pins (my latest addition) have made, waiting for the prototype shock buffer to arrive, can't wait to get it installed and see how well it works out, definitely would like to see a stainless steel clip included when these get into production, the quality of everything is spot on and top notch! Great job MCARBO!
Giving 5 stars now. Spoke with Crystal, probably a bad batch. Received and installed the warranty replacement. Thank you! New one holding up so far, already gone thru 350 rounds last PCC match. Had to contact MCarbo directly, and they took care of me. Bullseye North, where I originally purchased the extractor in Canada, told me it is a 2 month wait and they will wait for MCarbo replacement before they ship me replacement (even if they show on their website they have stock).
Can’t go wrong here with Mcarbo. The upgrade they offer for this rifle is a must have. No disappointments. Great Company with professional service.

I bought a new PC9 in November and shot about 750 rounds thru it stock. I noticed for rounds 500-750 that I would stovepipe about 1 in ever 20 rounds. I installed this, the shock buffer, and the upgraded pins and recoil retention clip, and have had 0 stovepipes since installation (about 500 rounds) I am super happy with this product - comparing the two, it was obvious that the stock one was unable to reliably grip the casing for ejecting
Appears very well designed and made, great upgrade to the stamped metal oem part.
Have not had a chance to shoot the carbine but extractor installation was simple. The extractor has much more engagement surface than the factory Ruger part. Hand cycled several magazines without any failure to extract.
I purchased and installed this recently. This upgrade is well worth it. The machining is well finished and very precise. Directions, via video, are simple. Performance has been excellent. i would suggest including a new extractor spring with the part. Only change I would make.
I was doing some upgrades to the PCC and decided this might be something to change while I'm in there. Man let me tell you there's a huge difference between this and the stock piece. The stock piece seems stamped out with rounded edges and very little detail. The M.CARBO extractor is amazing. It's precision cut with a lot more detailing. If you're doing anything to upgrade your PCC this should be the first thing you do. Oh yeah, while you're in there you might as well swap out the pins too.
This is an awesome upgrade to insure the reliability of the extractor. So much better than stock. Precisely machined and well made.
After about 3-400 rounds my Ruger PC Carbine turned into a single shot because it stove piped every shot. I have to admit I was skeptical this was all it would take to fix it, but it did. Took about 10 minutes to install. Took it to the range this morning and my carbine is 100% reliable again. M-CARBO has earned my trust. Just ordered a couple more upgrades.
Their replacement extractor fixed my stove pipe and extraction issues. Fast shipping and the installation video showed how easy it was to fix. I highly recommend this product and I am definitely going to order more upgrades from them!!! These guys are 5* in my book!
