If MCARBO makes a spring kit for a gun I own, then their spring kit goes into that gun. Love these guys. You can't beat their "how to" videos either. Step by step, easy to follow. 5 Stars!
The installation went just like the video showed, some parts a bit more difficult for fat fingered people than others. Unfortunately, I did not notice any reduction in trigger pull on my Wheeler Scale. It was still showing 8# but, it is what it is. The firearm is still new so maybe after the next 200-300 rounds?
I've had light primer strikes since I've put this trigger spring kit in. Mentioned it in a FN 509 group and an Apex guy told me to "take that junk out and put the original springs back in and I won't have that issue anymore" since their strikers won't fix the light primer strike issue he said. At first I thought he was just being biased but after he said to search the group for the same issue I can across a bunch of other owners who had the exact same problem and fixed it by taking it out and putting the factory springs back in. I'll be putting the original springs back in as well.
Great video made the install easy. Unfortunately, did not see much of a difference. Also having jamming issues, even using different ammo. Will most likely re-install the original springs.
This kit is very easy to install. The hardest part was driving out the roll pin. I don’t have a trigger pull scale, but it feels as though the weight of the pull has been cut in half. The install video was very informative and helpful. This is a must have for the 509!
I purchased a FN 509 compact MRD with a Vortex Venom red dot on it. It is in the FDE and I really like the way it looks and works. The only part of this pistol that I was unhappy with is how heavy the trigger is from the factory. Mine tested out to 7.5 to 8 lbs. and that is to much. I also had a gritty take up which I didn't like. I read on the internet about some possible solutions and I tried many of them but nothing seemed to work. My other pistols all have after market trigger kits and they are all around 4 to 5 pounds. I found M Carbo on the internet and read all the reviews and decided to give it a try. The spring kit arrived quickly and I watched the video a couple of times before it tried it. It's a great video and I couldn't have done it without the guidance. I was able to do it on the first attempt. I did the slide first since it was the easiest and I had polished the striker so I knew how that worked. After replacing the springs in the slide my trigger pull dropped from 7.5 to 8 lbs to 6 lbs. and I was pretty happy with that. The next day I decided to do the frame springs. It went well and when I was finished the trigger pull went down to 4.5 to 5 lbs. I am not sure why but after a number of dry fires the gritty take up is now gone as well. I actually like the stock trigger so I was glad that I didn't have to replace it. The pull is right where I was hoping it would be and now the only problem I had with this gun is fixed. Thank you for the great spring kit. I also found a great concealed holster from Black Arch in Logan, Utah. Now I can carry concealed and the pistol works just the way I wanted it to. Thanks again I am very happy with the results. Problem solved.
I've dropped in the new springs and had a successful range class outing. My shot groups tightened up and time to acquire target on followup shots....since the trigger pull is is lighter, one may not pull off the target with the harder trigger squeeze. The video is well done and helps one have the confidence to do a self-install. One needs nimble fingers and good eyesight to reassemble the sear assembly. One difference with my stock spring between the two pins is the loops are the same size and snug, so I had to position the spring into place from the rear and not obstruct the loop with the needle nose pliers. I also found the greasing tip to hold spring/pin in place useful, as well as greasing the trigger against the frame. I've also had a friend shoot the fn509 with the new springs and also noticed a positive improvement for a cleaner break while holding on-target. Anyone pulling shots left or right with the factory kits should insert this kit.
So much lighter on the pull
Tried many FN509's over the years and always walked away because of the dreadful triggers. When I saw the trigger and striker had been redesigned for the LAPD trials, I took a leap of faith and ordered the FN509 MRD LE package and the MCARBO spring kit. Surprise! The trigger in the new gun was not bad! The initial take up was not bad and the break was nice with a crisp but not crazy heavy wall. I only installed the MCARBO striker safety block spring, which made the trigger perfect for me, lighter take up with no grit. I can't speak for the rest of the spring kit because I didn't need it, but it was worth the price to make my great gun absolutely perfect.
Quick and easy, and makes a HUGE difference! Cant wait to hot the range tomorrow
Feels a lot better than before. For $20 this mod is perfect. Fit was perfect as advertised.
Great product. Followed the video exactly step by step. Took about an hour to install the springs. Also used the PTFE lubricant as showed. Trigger pull was measures before and after the new sprints. The difference was day and night. Highly recommend this product. The best value for the money.
Excellent spring kit for a very affordable price. One of the best bangs for your buck literally! It is a simple installation after watching the instructional video (Recommended). Lightened the trigger pull significantly from 7lbs to 4lbs average after install. Fired 100 rounds at the range to test with no issues. Apex flat trigger coming in today and will see how it works together! Thanks Mcarbo!
This spring set makes a very noticeable difference! Would recomend to all 509 owners with the set just being $19.99
So after buying a certain ( Big name ) trigger and following all the installation instructions I was less then pleased. All I got was money and time wasted with a lighter, but much creepier and worse trigger pull. Then I saw these springs, so in went the MCarbo springs with my factory trigger , and out came the ( Big name trigger). Now I have a solid wall, clean crisp, break , and a lighter trigger pull. Thanks MCarbo
I got a new FN 509C for summer carry and was hoping I wouldn't get a gritty trigger. Felt like it had been left in the sand box and buried by the cat. Looked at the Apex trigger but decided on the MCARBO spring kit and Shooting Sight striker. Holy cow, this gun may now have one of the nicest triggers of all my pistols. So smooth in the break and great positive reset. Now I dont have to get rid of it and have the perfect summer carry. Thanks again for such a great product and a great instructional video.
