I'm glad I found the brotherhood for well priced, American made, and quality parts for my guns. I'll for sure be a repeat customer and can't recommend them enough. If you're ever on the fence, just know they have a lifetime warranty and are veteran owned; go ahead and pull the trigger on your next purchase.

Two Guns 4 1/2 Stars

I purchased two triggers spring packs for two Mossberg shotguns. One is a model 500, the other is a 20 gauge shockwave.

The 500 had a reduced trigger pull from 7 lbs to 4.75 lbs (5 stars).

The shockwave only went from 6 lbs to 5 lbs (4 stars). They are both brand new guns (fewer than 100 rounds through them). Hopefully the shockwave will lighten up after some breakin.

UPDATE: Uprated from 3 to 4 stars. Here's why!

My previous review (see below) related a less than expected improvement in reduced trigger pull on my Mossberg 590A1. A bit more finagling has netted the following observation and performance improvement. Unlike the 500/590, the 590A1 has TWO hammer springs; the normal spring as found on most 500-series gun, and another, smaller diameter spring nested inside the normal spring. This is apparently included on 590A1's to assure fire/function even with hard primers (apparently a military requirement). Removing the smaller diameter inner spring renders the hammer spring essentially the same as the other 500-series shotguns.

Upon removal of said smaller spring there was a substantially better trigger performance, with pulls between 4.25lb-4.5lb. My previous review indicated a post-installation trigger pull of 5.8lb-6.2lb. This substantially improved performance causes me to increase my rating to 4 stars and to state that I WOULD buy this upgrade again.

NOTES TO M*Carbo:

1) You fail to mention the inclusion of this factory 2nd spring in either your installation video or the PDF installation instructions, nor do you address whether to leave it or remove it. Leaving the smaller, nested spring in place will result in the trigger pull improvement being negligible. IF you remove it, then the performance improvement is significant. Inasmuch as removing the smaller spring renders the 590A1 trigger to be essentially the same pull as the 500-series, I have no concerns about functional reliability, but each individual needs to make their own choice. (I don't intend to be dragging this gun through the sea, landing on beaches, or clearing enemy trenches and am therefore not particularly concerned about meeting the more rigorous Marine/NAVY test criteria which necessitated the additional spring and subsequent higher trigger pull.)

BTW - It is noteworthy that I've yet to find any assembly artwork which shows two springs in this trigger assembly, even from Mossberg themselves.

2) I cannot find any facility for editing one's review once it's posted. Had there been one I would have changed the rating on my original post. Instead, I had to write this supplemental review, which is a less-than-desirable method. You might consider adding such a facility.

Excellent trigger spring kit. Big improvement after installing these kits in two slug guns. Both gun owners called me back praising me for the trigger Job stating they are shooting more accurately now. Mcarbo knocked it out of the park with this trigger upgrade kit. THANKS MCARBO !!!!!

Looking for smoother trigger on the Mossberg shotguns- I have a 20 gauge 500, 12 gauge 835 ulti-mag. This is the place to get your springs, A great video on how to install.

Instlled the trigger kit with the help of the video's. Video was very good. Instructions straigt forward. Very helpful for me as I am not that handy. Took me 40 minutes to install, using the video as a reference.

Shipping time to Ontario Canada was very good. Big imoprovement on the trigger pull. Very happy with the purchase.

Along with the spring kit, I purchased the spring compression tool. You could make your own from a piece of 5/16" dowel rod, but it's not worth the effort for $1.95. The tool makes spring compression a breeze.

Installation of the kit took about 20 minutes start to finish, and reduced trigger pull form 7 lbs-12 ozs to 5 lbs-3 ozs (about 33%). Before installation of the spring set, I also worked all the stamped surfaces of the safety and used a Youtube video as a guide to take most of the latency from the trigger pull.

I'm very satisfied with the kit and expect this will smooth out my trap shooting quite a bit,

Was excited to try, but very little noticeable change

I had high hopes for this relatively simple solution for substantially reducing the trigger pull on my 590A1 Mossberg. Seemed straightforward (and it was). Now, to check trigger pull. My pre-installation pull was 6.5lb-7lb. After installation, the trigger pull was 5.8lb-6.2lb. I could have been very happy with a drop close to a 4lb pull, but it's nowhere near that. Not even close.

BTW - the installation tool, which is nothing more than a wooden dowel with a slot cut into the end was questionable as well. First, the diameter was too large to fit into the spring hole without some substantial sanding. Second, it is very fragile. The least bit of sideload (and I mean even a TINY bit) will break the ear(s) off. Not a huge deal as there's plenty of dowel to allow reconfiguring by cutting off the broken end and cutting a new slot (I used a Dremel and cut-off wheel).

Perhaps some dryfire trigger time will loosen it up some, but honestly, if I had it to do over again, I would pass, as claims of dropping from 6.5lbs to 3.5lbs did not materialize on my gun. Your mileage may vary.

I used this spring kit on a Maverick 88 trigger group. The worked well and greatly reduced the trigger pull. I used a 5-40 set screw in the trigger to adjust take up, so can't comment on how well the kit addresses that aspect. The install tool (modified dowel) helped immensely and was well worth the $2. The Maverick 88 trigger is slightly different than the 500 and 590 triggers. It took a little bit to figure it out, but overall about 40 mins to swap out the springs. For $22 (springs and tool) I'm very impressed. It is definitely a best buy and great upgrade for your shotgun. The only thing that could be better is if they included a 5-40 screw for adjusting trigger take up.

Worked great!

The gunsmiths trigger gauge did not go high enough to measure the trigger pull. with the springs in, it made quite a difference. He aid the springs were easy to install. I preferred an expert do it although, it doesn't look that hard.

I'm giving the product 5 stars because it works as advertised and greatly reduced the trigger pull and improved the feel However the installation on the Maverick 88 is not as easy one would assume. Took a few attempts to keep the trigger spring in place when re-installing trigger all while manipulating the hammer spring in place (took me some time to determine its proper orientation as well). Hammer spring appears to be of a different design from the 500 variants. Get the tool (I didn't) because it may save you some unnecessary agony if you lack any patience or better yet take it to gunsmith. Overall you will be pleased with the product.

Works as advertised!

I was not unhappy with my factory trigger but wanted to see if this kit made a significant enough difference for me to consider adding it to my other 2 Mossberg 500 shotguns. It does make for a better trigger pull. For $19.95 I think it’s worth it. Installation was easy and the wooden dowel tool helped.
