Haven't tested yet. But quality is much better than stock. I do believe the rubber will help mitigate the recoil even a little. Install was a breeze without any special tools. Just Allen keys. Price is also great

The new buffer was easy to install to start with. I can’t say that the recoil was amazingly better. Definitely wouldn’t say it felt like my 10/22. It was an improvement, but I have always that the gun kicks a lot more than it should so any improvement is good.

Great Addition to the Ruger PC Carbine!

Finally installed the Buffer and an extra power recoil spring. Installation was very easy. Everything fits great. Put 150 rds through the carbine this afternoon. 50 115gr factory remingtons, 50 147gr handloads (132 powerfactor for USPSA) and 50 124gr +P Federals. All functioned perfectly and the pounding of the bolt was considerable less. The buffer makes this Carbine much more tame in recoil and shoulder bump. Highly recommend this upgrade.

Great buy.

I purchased the Buffer and Recoil Spring Retainer. First of all...prompt ordering and shipping!! Then, using their installment videos, I made the change out. I was so glad I did. The original Spring Retainer was plastic and junk. The new one, built like a tank. Everything fit perfectly. For those of you who would be reluctant to make this type of change out, don't be. The video installations are top notch and "You can do it Waterboy". I'm 74 years old with neuropathy in my left hand. If I can do it, so can you!

Take care in ordering. The Company tells you things like "Spring not included", but if you aren't paying attention, you'll have to order several individual parts rather than taking care of everything in one order. So, do a head slap and focus. Understand what you need before you order.

To start off I want to thank and praise Jacqueline in Customer service for her fast assistance in replacing a USPS lost buffer at Christmas time! USPS lost the buffer in my local post office and I contacted M*CARBO the night of the 23rd after speaking with USPS. Jacqueline responded the next day and shipped out a replacement on the 26th!

Workmanship is very good and I am pleased to try out this part! Other M*CARBO parts I have installed have made great improvements to my PC9 and I will add more this winter. I have my PC9 setup for USPSA/Steel Challenge using Glock 10 round Magazines. Average power factor of 147 grain ammo tested is 145,000. I notice a reduced felt recoil as others have said, additionally the follow up shots appear to be quicker and easier to get back on target.

The only issue I have is the bolt will not lock back on last shot. I have tested this setup with the new M*CARBO Shock Buffer on 2 different days and with 6 different magazines and only a few times does the bolt lock back. I can manually (light preasure) cycle the bolt and all magazines will lock the bolt back every time. I am running the stock recoil spring at this time but plan on a new M*CARBO spring soon.

I see a few other reviews say they have had the same issue, I plan on testing this again and putting back the original shock buffer to see if the bolt locks back again.

Keep up the good work making great improvements for us shooters!

I’m writing one singular review for all of the internal upgrade parts I got, as it doesn’t really matter which is which. I upgraded to enhance the reliability of my personal favorite firearm, and altogether these parts did not disappoint. They really turn an already low recoil firearm into basically stable no matter the rate of fire. I’ve not had a single issue since replacing the factory parts. Good stuff.

As with everything else on this platform, installation was simple and straightforward, takes all of 5 minutes to break down, install, and put back together. Fit and finish on the buffer pad were already production quality!

I was genuinely surprised by just how much of a difference the shock buffer made. Felt recoil was very muted compared to stock, well worth the upgrade.

I did however, consistently encounter an issue with the bolt failing to lock back on the last round. The bolt would only lock back maybe 1/10 times with a variety of mags and either 115 or 124gr. I also have the MCarbo improved recoil spring installed, and did not experience this before. I don't know if it's maybe a combination of the larger rubber buffer with the stronger spring, but the bolt just refused to lock back on the last round. Cycling by hand with an empty mag still locked correctly so it's a bit of a mystery. Would give 5 stars without this issue.

My son and I took our PC Carbine to the range on Monday afternoon, a pleasant 40 degrees for upstate New York. We both shot the PC with the original shock buffer, and then installed the new one. The difference was very noticeable, the recoil was similar to our 10/22's. The last recoil hit at the hold open was lighter and now noticeable, whereas with the original buffer you couldn't tell by feel.

Great products, Great company.

I would like to start with the fact the MCarbo Team lives up to their pledge. They not only delivered in a timely manner they kept giving updates on the shipment.

As for the Ruger PC Carbine Shock Buffer it functioned as described. I wanted to try this product because the one that came on the Ruger was loud. After changing it out the wife and I went out to the range and tried it out it was great in semi auto but the real difference was when we put it to binary it was a true pleasure.

Great products, Great company.

Installed and tested about 100 rounds of a variety of different types of ammo, no malfunctions whatsoever. Felt recoil was not a huge difference but noticed it seems a bit more controlled. I'm using the stock spring with this buffer pad. Went with the retainer pin as well to go along with this, the quality is much better than stock.
