The MCARBO install video made it very easy to install the shock buffer and spring. The finish on the prototype seems to be production quality and looking forward to the final product. Haven't had a chance to take it out to the range but the other reviews are very positive.
Installation of prototype shock buffer was straightforward. The part is much sturdier than the stock part. I also have the heavier recoil spring installed. Shot 200 rounds of 115 grain ball ammo and there is a noticeable decrease in felt recoil. I had no issues with cycling and no failure to lock back after last round. Feels like you are shooting a 10/22. Great job MCARBO. I now have all of the upgrades for the PC9 installed and they make a huge difference. Would love to see a magazine insert for the Sig Sauer P320. That would make my PC9 complete!
Just installed the Shock Buffer along with all the other internal upgrades. Great replacement for the stock buffer. Super easy to install watching the excellent video by M*Carbo.
Took me ten minutes to install, seems like an exact fit replacement and if the endorsements are true, this should lengthen the life of the gun dramatically. Shipped very quickly as well. Very impressed with M*Carbo.
I installed this upgrade hoping for better recoil management but so far I haven't noticed much. After I installed it I went to the range to sight in a new Romeo 5 red dot. I used a Caldwell bench rest. Recoil seemed about the same.
Replacing the hard piece of plastic that absorbs no impact with a soft faced piece like this one makes a huge difference in sound. It cleans easily and can take much more of a beating than the stock pad.
to my surprise, it did not... the install video and the product photo imply the pad and the spring are a complete package... I guess this is my mistake but it is misleading... and I can't find the spring available on the site.
Excellent install video but could I please make a comment? When I removed the trigger assembly the hammer strut/spring fell out which was an unexpected surprise (lucky for me you guys also have a video on trigger upgrade which explains the hammer strut/spring).I believe I understand the reason why the strut/spring fell out. ...When I store the carbine, broken down in half, in my breakdown carry case I always pull the trigger so there is no load on the hammer spring. Therefore when I removed the trigger assembly the hammer was not in the locked position which allowed the spring to fall out. Two recommendations: 1) It would be a good idea to pull back the charging handle and release the bolt forward before removing the receiver from the chassis ensuring the trigger hammer is put in the locked position. 2) maybe a helpful word on the video installation if spring does happen to fall out and how to address it.
My rugers were pretty accurate out of the box, but they seem to be made to modify and upgrade! I did the same upgrade to my 10/22 and absolutely loved it. This upgraded buffer just looks so cool! It’s also built very well and looks extremely functional. Can’t wait to try it at the next competition.
I was finally able to get out and out some rounds down range with it and I was actually pleasantly surprised. Just manually cycling the bolt I was unable to tell much of any difference with or without. While actually shooting, however, it definitely seems to take some of the sharpness out of the recoil impulse. That combined with the fact that it should reduce wear on the firearm makes it a winner in my book.
Set aside some time to shoot a mag with the stock buffer, take it down and shoot a stick with the proto type buffer. I have the M CARBO muzzle brake on it already so muzzle flip is reduced but I do believe it is less and felt recoil is a softer bump. Getting the red dot back on target is much quicker now. I also run the M CARBO mag release and the larger charging handle. Highly recommend all three.
M carbo has done it again, Now I own all the upgrades for the pc 9 Except the extractor which I have not had any issues with extraction i might one day get it,however I can tell you that this buffer is amazing proceed to recoil is definitely reduced your groups will tighten up ,and if you have any sensitivity in your hands you will feel the smoothness in your weapon system ,I shot 500 rounds of 115 grain ball ammo and you could visibly tell the difference between the old buffer and the new buffer. Not sure how they plan on outdoing themselves with this but this prototype is pretty amazing looking forward to the finished product put me down for one.
Running the Ruger PC9 heavily in PCC competition, just about everything Mcarbo has is needed in this gun. This improved recoil buffer definitely helps when running major Ammo. I do wish they still offered the heavier spring to compliment this part.
I added this to list of M*Carbo accessories on my PC9 and was very pleased. . .not surprised, just pleased. I installed a muzzle brake on the gun so it already shot loud, but soft. The Shock Buffer reduced the recoil even further, more like my 10-22 than a 9mm gun. Beyond the performance, the quality of the buffer is excellent. Too bad there's no way to show off that fancy red color outside the gun. ..;-) I think the only thing I'd suggest would be a video demonstrating how to install. . .I figured it out, but everybody isn't mechanically inclined and a video would go a long way towards showing not only how to do it, but how easy it is to do it.
I inspected this Ruger PC Carbine before purchase. Just as Chris's video showed the shock buffer was all chewed up. And the retainer for the recoil spring....It is PLASTIC! Ordered and installed Mussel brake, Flat trigger, EE Extractor, Shock Buffer, and Stainless Steel recoil spring Retainer all at the same time. Super simple because of Chris's videos. Have put through 200 of my first ever reloads without a glitch. My weapon shoot like a .22. Great job MCarbo! Now have a great shooting M&P Shield and Ruger PCC that are super fun to shoot.
I can feel the difference. Really helps on the recoil. Highly recommend. Easy install. Worth the price.
