Review
I just shot my upgraded LC Carbine at the range. The trigger upgrade was great, well worth the effort of installing. The trigger pull was smooth and repeatable. I highly recommend spending the time to upgrade the spring.
I bought the trigger kit for a savage axis which has an awful factory trigger , installed the 2 and 1/2 pound spring and shims that take all the side to side slack out , trigger is really good now Thanks MCARBO for a good product at a really good price
I recently purchased the trigger and trigger spring kit for my LC Carbine. The instruction video does not work for the 10mm or 45 ACP versions as the video is based on the 5.7x28 version and things are different. On the 10mm version the trigger bar is different and does not come off. You also do not need to remove the roll pin out of the safety lever or for that matter remove the safety at all during the installation. The safety spring is also different on the 10 mm compared to the video which is based on the 5.7 version. When I contacted customer service for help I was told that they had not really seen a 10 mm so they did not know for sure what the differences were on the install. Bottom line is the trigger "better", yes the pull is lighter though I cannot say the reset is any shorter. I have yet to shoot this after installing the springs / trigger last night so time will tell if anything is better or worse.
By the time I got done replacing two of the four springs on my Ruger 45 LC carbine, I was just praying I could get it back together and it would work. The video is obviously not for the 45 model. The trigger bar disassembly is totally different; there is no mention of how to get the safety spring back in after it falls out; and the bolt assembly is different. I ended up replacing the firing pin spring and the hammer spring. I decided not to mess with the other two after three hours of fighting and trying to figure out the changes between the 45 model and the video. It appears the trigger pull has been reduced by about 1.5#. I just hope tomorrow the rifle works. I've replaced a number of triggers and never had the amount of problems I had tonight. I've actually replaced the Scorpion springs by these guys in a number of Scorpions with no problems, so I'm not a rooky, but this spring kit kicked my ass.
Make trigger much lighter BUT, mcarbo needs a new video for 10mm and 45! I posted a review below on YouTube. I can now do this trigger job in 20 minutes but is was painful many hrs til i figured it out! https://youtu.be/LcQGNdWXcok?si=cZRW83w7DJTzlsGi
I really liked the results, the trigger pull is considerably smoother. I'm looking forward to trying it at the range next week. However, I gave it 4 stars due to the problem with getting the safety selector roll pin out (I see from the questions I wasn't the only one with this issue). I had considerable problems with getting the roll pin out going from the top down as the video instructs. I was successful by forcing the roll pin out from the bottom up, don't know why as the roll pin hole should be the same diameter on both ends. That being said, try pushing the roll pin out from the bottom if it doesn't come out like the video shows. Still, it was the toughest part of the disassembly. All in all, the video was very good and the results were excellent.
MCARBO, Thank You for asking a trigger kit for the Ruger LC Carbine. I was ready to deep six the rifle due to the horrendous trigger pull. Installed your kit and cycled the trigger and was extremely pleased, at least 50% if not more reduction. 100% Recommend this Product, a Must Have.
I have the LC45 and it is apparently built a little different than the 5.7 that is used in the installation video. I was hesitant of trying until I read the Q&A section. M-CARBO insisted that the springs will work on all the models. So, I took the leap. Slow down and think a bit if you install this kit in the 45 ACP or the 10mm versions. It will work though. Biggest take aways are the safety lever does not need to come off, watch the ambi-bolt-release button it will grow wings, the trigger bar does not need to (or will it) come off, and the bolt's firing pin retaining pin slides in and out from the side. Watch the video a few times and compare it to the parts diagram in your rifle's manual. IMO another video needs to be made for the 10mm and 45ACP models. This all made me want to rate it at 4 stars instead of 5, but... the reduction is amazing and that overpowers the frustrations of the installation. It took the slop out of the trigger and reduced it from 5lbs 2oz average to 2lbs 4oz average. HUGE difference. Haven't shot it yet, and cannot wait. Going this weekend.
