I just had a chance to take this out yesterday. I was dropping 124gn 9mm rounds on 2 liter bottles at about 120 yards. The position of my cheek on the stock was much more comfortable then the stock rear sight. I look forward to trying this at the next competition I go to.
I just installed my new peep sight and I am very satisfied with the outcome. Install was easy and smooth. Great Product.
The little bit larger peep hole and the fact that its machined aluminum means the hole is more defined and easier to use. The rounded bottom of the MCARBO rear peep sight lines up perfectly with the rounded bottom of the stock front sight. Don't have to manually flip it up, by adjusting the tension of the mounting screw you can get it to open up with unfold of the Sub-2000 just like the stock sight did.
Sub 2000: cool weapon, but I hate plastic parts when not appropriate. M*Carbo: cool company. Helps me get rid of the inappropriate plastic parts. M*Carbo Installation Videos: very informative, perfect demonstration, very amusing/entertaining. Very easy install with the great video.
Love this sight. Way better than that cheap plastic OEM sight and it's convenient for a lefty like myself. Easy to install thanks to the instructional videos. Definitely a grab.
This is exactly what you need if running an optic. Tighten it up just enough to keep it from being floppy, and not enough to be ridiculous to manipulate, and it will auto-deploy for you. However, the serrations are only one side of the deployment lever, so you can push it down easy enough, but pulling it back can be a tad more frustrating as the lever is smooth and slick on the back side. Fix that, and it's the best compromise available for this situation.
I have found the original rear sight on both my 9mm and 40SW Sub 2000 to have the aperture too low. Cranking down the front sight until it nearly disappears in the front post is still not enough to get on target; it still shoots too low. This replacement rear sight has the aperture higher, where it needs to be to get on target.
I won't reiterate the rave reviews already posted by others, beyond saying that this one upgrade will make any SUB2000 (from Mild to Wild, in the scope of improvements) far more usable for everyone from novices to seasoned veterans. Good Job coming thru with the rear sight guys!
Ok guys if u only make 1 upgrade 2 ur keltec this has 2 b it...the original sight is horrible...I promise u will love this new sight.
This is a must have. Stock one is ridiculously too low. Why didn't Kel-Tec think of that?! Nice that it's metal, too.
I was having issues being able to see the front sight through the stick rear sight. So installed the slightly taller botched rear sight. Much easier to properly aim now, just need to make any adjustments to offset the taller rear sight on next range trip.
the factory sight was unusable for me...almost impossible to get my eye low enough to get a sight picture...used the m-carbo open sight replacement....works great
This sight (notch sight) is EZ to install but I had to remove the Sling Kit I got from Kel-Tec. I am now able to find my sight picture immediately upon resting my cheek (now in a higher position on the rear tube), the old sight took me way too long to find my sight picture (about 5 seconds). Wish this package came with both peep and notch so I could see which I prefer but with this new notch sight I was able to, without doing a contortion act to target the bull, get a 4" group at 18 yards, standing in a few seconds. That works for me.
If you have this gun, you know the issues with trying to aim. Absolutely a must have to help with your aim, and top notch quality part.
Absolutely thrilled with this part. It's a solid, substantial upgrade of the factory sight. The sight allows the cheek weld that should have been standard from the factory. I have set mine to auto-deploy by tightening up the screws and loc-titing in place. Not my first Mcarbo purchase, won't be my last.
I can't say enough good about the new sight. It's a vast improvement from the factory sight, being higher with a larger diameter peep. It keeps the cheek bone off the tube and when installed with proper tension folds and unfolds with the weapon. Nice!!
