Installed new trigger spring on my 1988 m-70 sporter varminter. Results were good , not great. At about 3 pounds. Do not have a gauge. To be fair, I have creep in my trigger so need to work on the sear. Probably can fine tune the spring just a bit more also.

Recently I competed in a friendly shooting competition with my Winchester 70 .243. When I squeezed the trigger I thought I must’ve forgot to disengage the safety. I didn’t forget; it was that hard! I watched a vid on YouTube showing how to significantly reduce trigger pull by simply changing out the spring with a MCARBO spring. Wow! What an improvement. I don’t have a trigger pull gage but It can’t be more than 2lbs. now. Search YouTube under “MCARBO” to see the vid for yourself! Awesome upgrade.

When I set the factory trigger spring pull it was 3 1\2 lbs. That was the lowest it would go. With your spring I only got it to 3 lbs. So there was not much difference between factory and your spring. The only way to make yours lighter is to cut coils on the spring and the only way I would do that was if I had 4 or 5 springs in hand so in case I screwed up I would have extra ones. And by the way I have been setting trigger pulls on different guns for 50 years.

Could not be happier with the way this simple spring replacement performs! My M70 went from a nearly 7lb trigger pull to a perfectly clean and crisp 2.4lbs. This was always a great shooting rifle but it's now so much easier to be consistent. Don't waste your money on a new trigger until you at least try this simple fix first.

Unbelievable!!

As most reviews show, this product can reduce the trigger pull on a Winchester Model 70. My Winchester 70 belonged to my father and is from the mid 50s to early 60s. It was likely never touched prior to my installation.

Trigger pull prior to installation averaged 4 lbs 8 oz, after installation averaged 2 lbs 13 oz, so a significant improvement. Very clean break.

Installation was easy and the directions were clear. The only thing I would recommend would be adding torque specs for the trigger casing and stock.
