1977 Winchester model 70 7mm
I bought my father's gun back after selling it 18 years ago and first time at the range I knew the trigger was stiff!
Buddy told me about mcarbo so I ordered one.
Shipping was quick and I got it today!
Took out the old trigger spring and lock nuts that had the trigger weight sitting around 6.5#...
Mcarbo spring it is now at 2.75#!!!
Money saver
Easy installation brought my trigger from 5 lb 3 oz down the 3lbs 7 oz. Which is light even on a hunting rifle for me .. A fraction of the cost of a aftermarket trigger …..
Post 64 model 70 spring
Easy install fast shipping
Installation
The review is for fitment and installation.
Removal of existing and replacement with the MCarbo spring is a fast and simple process.
Replacement spring slides in place very easily.
Trigger feels cleaner, but I have yet to fire it so cannot attest to the specific trigger pull weight reduction.
For the spring kit price there is very little risk so a slight improvement is worth the cost
Winchester model 70 trigger spring
This spring was easy to install and delivered a crisp 2 pound setting.
Winchester Model 70 - Trigger Spring replacement
Amazing results and easy installation. Works as advertised, factory trigger pull was over 5 pounds. M-Carbo spring installation resulted in less than 2 pound pull, crisp break with no creep.
Winchester Model 70 - Trigger Spring replacement
Amazing results and easy installation. Works as advertised, factory trigger pull was over 5 pounds. M-Carbo spring installation resulted in less than 2 pound pull, crisp break with no creep.
Amazing Game Changer
This spring took my 5.5 pound to 2.5 pounds on my early 90s Model 70 Stainless Classic. The instructional video was clear and the result was perfect right down to the over travel. The trigger is smooth and crisp with a clean break at the wal. Don't try and mess with the factory "adjustment" get this spring!
Will this work on a Montana rifle 1999? If so which spring?
The Winchester Model 70 Trigger Spring Kit is designed specifically for the Winchester Model 70 trigger mechanism, and while the Montana Rifle 1999 (MR-99) shares many similarities with the Model 70, there are some differences in the trigger assembly that may impact compatibility.
Compatibility:
Trigger Design Similarity: The Montana Rifle 1999 uses a trigger mechanism modeled after the Winchester Model 70, so in many cases, parts like springs may fit physically. However, the performance, such as pull weight reduction, may not be identical due to differences in machining tolerances and design details.
Recommended Spring:
If attempting to use the M*CARBO Winchester Model 70 Trigger Spring Kit, the lighter spring option in the kit (intended to reduce trigger pull weight) is most likely to work. However, this is not guaranteed to perform as intended in the MR-99 without adjustments.
Considerations:
Safety: Even if the spring physically fits, always verify the trigger's function, including sear engagement and safety mechanisms, before use. Improper tension or engagement could lead to unsafe conditions, such as a failure to hold the sear.
Testing: After installation, test the rifle with dummy rounds to ensure proper trigger function under realistic conditions.

Will this work in a Winchester 670? Budget version of the model 70.
How do I know if my gun is before 2008
Take a look at the infographic on the Description. The serial numbers are associated at the end of the year of production. If your serial number is in the range of the years Before 2008 or after 2008 you can see it from there.
This spring kit will work on a fetherweight ?
Functions in all Winchester Model 70 calibers and variations over the years.
Will this trigger kit work on the xpr rifles too? I assume they would seeing as how they also use the moa trigger system
I just installed it on an XPR. It is tricky to install because the trigger housing is not removable but it works. Trigger down to right over 3# from right under 5#.
