I installed the kit on my 21 year old GP100. After following the video from start to finish including all the polishing, upon reinstallation after I put the trigger group back in, the trigger would not go to it's rearward most position, thus could not install the hammer. After hours of investigation, and using a spare trigger assy I had bought on Ebay a while back, I found that the trigger plunger was not going into the correct position, it was moving to far forward. I even replaced it with my spare and no luck. Since you give two trigger return springs in the kit, I tried the other one, no luck. My spare assy worked great with either trigger plunger, so I put the old spring back in and it worked. What's the use of the kit if I couldn't use all the springs? The video is on a SP101, not a GP100. And the part about using a 1/4 inch drill bit to c lean up the hole the trigger return spring goes in is BS also, that hole is nowhere near a 1/4 inch on my gun. So I had to make another trip out to my garage and dig up a 7/32 bit that fit my gun. It was the same size on my spare assy too. The only spring I could change is the mainspring, and I already had a 2lb 5 oz average pull on single action, which didn't change. The double action pull was only marginally better, and was 11lb 3 oz to start, and was 11 1 oz after because the return spring was the same. If I had not had the spare trigger group, I don't think I ever would have figured out exactly what was wrong, even though I would have put the old spring back in trouble shooting the problem. The trigger plunger was only a fraction of an inch to far forward, and that's the best way I can describe it , it has to be compared with another. My GP100 was made in 2002, when I got it. Both models have been in production for almost 30 years. Y'all need to do this on some older guns not just new ones and do separate videos on each model. So now I have two trigger return springs that won't work in my gun. The spare trigger group, with hammer I got on Ebay from a guy who buys parts from a company that destroys confiscated guns for various LE agencies and is only required to destroy the serial numbered part, then they sell the rest of the parts. A great source of spare parts. I would ask for a partial refund but it was not much money and I did do the polishing and used the hammer/mainspring. But please do not group two similar but different models into the same kit and video.
My wife and I purchased a Ruger SP101 3", for home defense for her I did not like the trigger pull at all, but she could not even pull the trigger,(little lady), so I purchased your Ruger SP101 / GP100 Trigger Spring Kit, and polishing kit., the trigger and the hammer are just right just like the video said, now I fill confident, that she will be safe real nice.
I got a brand new SP101 Match Champion that had a trigger pull I wasn’t happy with. The hammer was also very hard to cock. I also purchased the polish kit. The video was a lot of help. It took me longer than I expected but I also didn’t anticipate looking for springs that shot off to the ceiling. I was warned in the video but it still happened. The hammer is a lot easier to cock now. Everything is so much smoother. The travel in the single action trigger pull is gone. But it has a nice crisp very pull now. Double action is lighter and smoother. Overall, I am very pleased with the performance the $20 got me. It was exactly what I was looking for.
Purchased a Ruger SP101 many years ago for my wife for self defense. She has small wrists and has difficulty racking a slide, so I felt a revolver was the best solution. However, she always complained about the HEAVY trigger. Ran across the MCARBO videos so I "bit the bullet" (pun intended) and purchased the trigger spring kit. Following the video I carefully changed out the 2 springs and did a little cleaning and lubricating while I was in there and noticed an immediate improvement in trigger pull. But most importantly, my wife noticed and was very pleased with the reduction. I recommend this upgrade for a nice revolver with a terrible trigger.
This kit did everything I wanted! My GP100 was pretty good out the box, but now... WOW! I followed the install video, polished the internals, put the new springs and hammer shims in. It's not the same gun. I've done a ton of semi auto trigger jobs, this was my first revolver job, I learned A LOT. I can take this gun apart and put it back together in my sleep. The trigger is silky smooth and sooo much lighter. My POS trigger pull gauge crapped out or I'd give you a number, but trust me you will be very happy with this kit. I was a little worried it'd knock the pull weight down too far, but it's perfect! If you have a Ruger you've gotta get this kit! If I have one install tip it's, DON'T MIX UP YOUR PAWL SPRING WITH YOUR HAMMER DOG SPRING!!! Save yourself a lot of headache.
I used the SP101 Trigger Spring Kit. My SP101's trigger was so heavy and gritty that when pulling the trigger...so much effort was needed and it was so gritty..that I could not keep the sights on target. It was terrible...and frankly unsafe beyond handshaking distance. I followed along the Video M-CARBO did for SP101 and it was comprehensive and easy to follow. The video ran for more than an hour.....but it took me many many hours to do the work...but more important...the video gave me the confidence to do the work myself even though I was hesitent and inexperienced. I kept pausing and reviewing the steps. EVERYTHING that the video warned about the factory work done on the revolver...was true with the revolver I had. very very rough machining. In the end my SP101 is vastly improved and it handles smoothly...just as it should have from the factory. Now shooting it with more confidence and Control since the trigger is smooth and consistent without any gritty obstacles to pull through. I did not like the handling of it before....but now, I have dry fired it about 500 times and it is wonderful. Looking forward to some range time with it. Thank you M-CARBO...best $ 20 bucks I have spent.
Kit was oversold in its claims of amazing trigger and hammer pull weight reduction . FYI ends up very similar to factory install . This kit not worth it
I purchased this kit for my GP100, followed the video and everything was great until I went to fire it. I had multiple light primer strikes, that is, failure to fire. Furthermore, I'd say out of 50 rounds, I had 10-12 failures. This gun has never failed to fire before. I simply put the stock hammer spring back in the gun, hopefully that will remedy the problem. I use this gun for self-defense in the home and in the back country of Idaho; a failure to fire can cost the lives of me or someone else. I've contacted Mcarbo about this issue numerous times, but have gotten no response from them.
Ordered, received and installed my kit within 3 days. Also ordered the polishing kit and followed the video for the installation and polishing instructions. Overall smoothness and reduction of trigger pull weight we're immediately noticable. Feels like a completely different gun. Thank you for an awesome product .
As a multiple MCARBO product purchaser, I have recently utilized this kit for both my Ruger SP101 and GP100, both in .357. An absolute night and day difference! The videos are very thorough and easily understood. My GP100 now has a better double and single action then my S&W 586. You cannot lose with this kit.....purchase it and see for yourself.
Received on time as promised. Videos Extremely helpful on completing the job. Take your time, stay organized, be patient and have fun. Great improvement to my SP-101 trigger.
What a nice kit and the video was very clear and easy to follow. There's nothing like tuning up your own firearms. I love it!
Polishing and add a Mcarbo spring kit. Like butter now.!!!! What a great install video.
The shims in this kit are good but the springs NO good. The trigger return spring caused my GP100 to jam the trigger would only pull about 1/4 of the way than jam. Removed the M-carbo spring and no jam. The 9.5 lb hammer spring causes light primer strikes and misfires. M-carbo tech's they said they were aware of this problem but they have not done anything to fix it. Bottom line, I will never order any springs from M-carbo. I'm not the only one who has had this problem.
When I ordered the spring kit I expected to have to wait a couple of weeks to get them. Totally pleased to get them in 4 days. They emailed me to make sure that I got the parts. Great service and great people to work with. I highly recommend m*carbo for any parts or work you may need. Barrie
Parts came quick. Used in a Ruger sp101,357,2” barrel. Quality of parts was excellent. The video made it enjoyable and easy to follow. World of difference in trigger. Pull was lighter but more important the gritty feel of the trigger is gone and it’s smooth as butta. Highly recommend this mod for your Ruger.
