Review
the quality of the product is exemplary, but almost as important is the video walking you through every stop for a trigger job. Every time I do a complete cleaning I review this video
Bought this spring kit to reduce the heavy pull on my SP101. Also received shims for my hammer and trigger (only needed to adjust the hammer) as well as lubricant. Compared to another brand that I had bought, this kit is very inclusive. The competition only supplied springs, didn’t really reduce the pull by much, and cost more than this kit, which included shims and lubricant. They even have a very detailed video on how to break down and install, step by step, the springs and shims. Extremely pleased with this product and this company. Highly recommend!
My wife couldn't shoot her SP101 38sp using double action. After I performed the trigger job she can now shoot it accurately double action with one hand. It took a little longer than it should have as I spent quite a bit of time re-watching the video and reading the instructions. But once done, I was able to do the same on my 357 mag SP101 in less than 30 minutes. I do recommend putting lubrication on the trigger return spring and the trigger assembly in total. Really smooth, easy action. Huge improvement. Thanks!
Super easy to improve the trigger pull...... Remove the grip, release the trigger bar/spring, and replace the spring. Put the grip back on. It really is that simple.
M-CARBO rocks!! Followed video instructions and no problems. Action and buffer job was easy. Springs and shims made all the difference. Thankyou for your expertise. Doing the job myself saved me money and I learned just how my revolver operates. Feel more confident and relaxed with my firearms. Everyone should find this company.
Spent about three hours on this project mostly trying to figure out why it wouldn't go back together. After the frustration, I figured out that the trigger return springs were incorrect, too long. I gained minimal improvement in trigger function after the polishing and changing the hammer spring.
I am in the middle of 1000 projects so I took it to a gunsmith for the install. He called when he was done and I couldn't believe the difference. Great light trigger pull, very smooth and dosent feel at all less sturdy or the least bit sloppy. If you have a gp100... Get you one of these kits!
Wow! What a difference the kit made. Installation video was great. Made the installation much simpler. As usual , you guys come thru 5 star!!!
Installation of the kit in conjunction with the polishing procedures yields a much smoother action, as advertised. CAUTION - The 22LR version requires a 3/16" drill bit with 1000 grit sand paper to smooth the trigger spring/latch boring in the trigger frame. The video instructs you to use a larger drill bit for the large caliber versions of this revolver. If you are unfortunate to have your trigger latch hole in the main frame poorly machined by Ruger as mine was you will have to do some extensive grinding and polishing to allow the trigger latch to properly seat in the frame and allow the trigger mechanism to fully function. Honestly, I do not know how Ruger got this latch to extend enough to allow the trigger to pull all the way back with the extreemly poor/rough boring in the frame. If you see this very jagged trigger latch hole after you struggle to remove the trigger group initially....take it to a gunsmith if you do NOT have experience with precision machining and fitting......don't take the chance on ruining a good weapon. It took me about 4 hours of grinding and reshaping with a 3/16" diameter Dremel sharpening stone followed by metal polishing to properly reseat the trigger assembly. Thi issue is NOT a problem with MCARBO! It was a poor quality machining job by Ruger. Be careful and aware of this possible issue if you venture to do this upgrade. It is worth the effort.
Just installed spring kit in Ruger GP 100 7 shots talo edition, work excellent, great quality parts and easy to follow instructions...
Just got finnished installing the spring kit in my woods gun. The parts kit worked like a champ....i took my time polishing the innards of the ruger. After the parts were clean everything fell into place without any problems. I ended up using all shims except 2 of the 4 provided for the hammer. The action is buttery smooth now. This kit is worth installing if your on the fence about it.
My parts were delivered pretty quickly and the install went great. My Ruger GP100 had a nasty hard trigger pull and wasn't fun to shoot. My wife would only shoot it in single action because you would get a sore finger and the accuracy is better in single action. The new trigger pull is amazing cant wait to try it out. My wife will be in for a great surprise when she finds out she has a new trigger, thank you so much keep up the good work!
Excellent. The trigger return spring was a bit long for my 7 shot GP100, had to trip a couple coils off to get it to fit. Followed the video to install and polish the innards. Smooth as silk now. I don't shoot it single action anymore, the double action is that light and smooth.
I purchased a trigger kit from Mcarbo . Mcarbo has a awesome video for installing the kit . After following step by step on which parts to polish , the trigger is amazing . Have never felt a trigger this smooth . Will be doing my Glocks next . Great job Mcarbo .
I installed the Ruger GP100 trigger kit. I went from 10.3 lbs pull to 5.6 lbs with this kit and the polishing kit. I was very surprised by the results that I received. I watched the video and followed along doing my handgun . The video is very well done and informative. The parts kit installed very easy with the help of the video. Thank you very much for the video and the parts to do this trigger job. I would recommend this to others. Thank. Rich
I have to say that this kit is a miracle for the otherwise absolute horrible factory trigger system in this Ruger GP-100. The results were amazing, I started with a brand new gun out of the box with an inconsistent gritty and jerky trigger pull of between 7 and 9 lbs. double action and 5 to 7 single action as measured with a digital Lyman Trigger Pull Scale. I did the polishing and shimming of both the trigger and hammer and ran out of shims, after installing all 4 of the .001 shims that came with the kit I still had amost .003 side play in the trigger and after installing the 4 .005 shims in the hammer I still had .010 side play in the hammer, also the crown was buggered as the one Chris had in the video, I lapped the crown also, but at the end this gun turned out incredible in that the trigger pull is like butter with a glass break, and the 5 pull average came in at 4 lbs. 3.7 oz. The single action 5 pull average is 1 lb. 11.4 oz. The gun shoot amazing well also as I went to the range and shot a 5 rnd group of 2.75" at 25 yrds. I can't say that I have ever shot any revolver that has a better trigger system than this one. Thanks M*Carbo again.
