If you can read, follow instructions and have a dremel, this is a shoe in to make major improvements on your GP-100(s). I have several and have ordered this it for each one. You might also want to order the polishing kit (think it's the ramp polishing kit) and some more of the polishing fobs. If your working on the trigger of the GP-100, be sure to watch the video closely because there are SOME SPRINGS and items that will go into the BLACK HOLE and you'll end up ordering new parts. HINT: Open the trigger assembly inside a 1gal zip lock bag and the parts might try to go hide in the BLACK HOLE but you'll capture them all. Anyway, this is an excellent way to get your GP-100 with almost a match trigger, smooth as the day is long and the single action is scary light. GOOD PRODUCT, GOOD COMPANY
Before I purchased the GP100 Trigger Spring Kit I watched the video to make sure I could take my Ruger GP100 apart and put it back together and come away with a functioning firearm. As usual the video was excellent. I got the Trigger Spring Kit and followed the video with some missteps and cussing on my part. But when I was done I couldn't believe the difference. I started out with a trigger pull of 11.6lbs. DA and 4.2lbs. SA. I ended up with a trigger pull of 7.4lbs. DA and 2.4lbs. SA with an extremely smooth trigger pull. I would have never attempted this without the excellent video by Chris Nelson. This is by the far the most complicated disassembly/reassembly I have ever done. THANK YOU!!
Anyone that has an sp101 revolver owes it to themselves to install the MCARBO spring kit. Install video makes the Job very easy. Lowered the double action pull of my revolver by almost 40%. And while you are at it might as well polish internal parts. MCARBO polishing kit is all you need. Made mine smooth as butter. Definitely would recommend.
My wife has severe wrist problems and has been looking for a hand gun she can manage. She's an excellent shot...we've been doing it for a very long time. She discovered she like the looks and feel of a Ruger sp 101 that's been lying around the house for quite some time. She loved everything but the awful trigger. So I ordered the spring kit and watched the video. The video covered not only the spring swap but how to polish up everything inside the revolver. Wow! Now I have not only a crisp 2.5 pound single action pull but a double actin that is (in my wife's words) slicker than our old K-38 purchased in 1968. My buddy who works behind the pistol counter at Buds and I are trying to figure out what's next.
I was looking at sp101 videos on YouTube I found your video ok trigger spring and hammer spring replacement and shims on the 101 and polishing components. I liked your video. Very well done. I ordered the trigger kit and shims. I also ordered the polishing kit. All I can say is WOW what a difference. This took me about two hours to complete. Great product and fast shipping. Just installed spring kit in my ruger sp101 pull weight down to 7 pounds. have not been to range with it yet. This makes the seventh spring kit I have installed Have been pleased with all of them. now if y'all will just make a spring kit for my S&W Bodyguard to stop the light strikes I will be happy. I followed the really great video and was able to get everything polished and the springs installed easily. The revolver is much smoother. The shims work awesome to remove the slop in the hammer and trigger. My only complaint is that my DA trigger pull still maxes out my 8 pound trigger pull gauge. I still recommend the kit because the trigger is much smoother to operate.

I am not an armorer but a tinkerer. This was a relatively easy procedure. Watched 2 videos and then followed along and polished all contact points, replaced the springs and shimmed the trigger and hammer. Now the trigger pull is smooth, much lighter and the gun more accurate in DA and SA. I highly recommend this kit.
Yes I received the results I was hoping for. This was the first gun I actually was sorry I bought because of the trigger. The installation had a hiccup, I had to nip a couple of coils from the trigger spring, but all resolved in the end. The parts were good quality and I would recommend you to others. Trigger pull went from almost 12 lbs to 7 but I didn't do near the polishing in the video.
The kit work very well The video helped a bunch I used the springs and hammer shims. I did polish the crown with the added tool
The spring kit and instruction was very clear and reasonably priced. The result was a much smoother and lighter trigger pull.
I have installed 3 of these kits and all three have worked wonders with the SP101s they were installed in. Trigger pull was reduced, action was smoothed and the double action trigger pull was smooth and crisp without any gritty feel. Fantastic upgrade!
I ordered kit knowing the reputation of mcarbo. I wasn't disappointed. It has everything you need. Just take your time, be patient and take deep breaths. Not a hour job. By the end of the job, I had a reduction of almost 50%. They were not lying. Always a pleasure dealing with mcarbo. Keep up the great work. I have a db9mm that needs help. Possibly a kit in the future for that with a updated rod. Thank you again.
Using the Lyman digital trigger gauge.. before Kit 10.4lbs (DA.. average of 10 pulls) 4.1lbs (SA same 10 pull average) After Kit installed using all 4 trigger shims and 2 hammer shims... 6.1lbs (DA 10 pull average) and wait for it... 2.1lbs (SA 10 pull average)!!!!!! WOW!!! I followed the video to the letter (Except I did not lap the crown)... super easy.. took my time and I feel like I have a brand new custom shop ruger!!!! Now... they need to make a Taurus M627 tracer kit!!!!!
Installed the springs and hammer shims. No need or room for the trigger shims. I only did light buffing. My trigger gauge only goes to 8lbs. so I don’t know what my DA weight was, but it was HEAVY. SA was 5 lbs. my SA is now 3lbs. and DA is still over 8lbs. but much smoother and somewhat lighter. I’ll probably leave it where it is without further buffing so I can avoid light strikes. Great video instructions made the job easy. Great product and service!
