Wasn't satisfied with another set of springs I'd installed in my SP101 DAO, went looking for something better. Tripped over Chris' video on youtube and was impressed with the material and thoroughness. Ordered in late February figuring on a lengthy wait. Parts showed up in three days and I just got the free time to work it over and install them.

The MCarbo springs are like night and day over the factory liability law conscious springs, and definitely an improvement over the previous aftermarkets. The secret seems to be that the ends are machined so as to prevent catching and snagging.

I hadn't previously noticed how gritty the trigger pull was until I watched the video. I'd done some very conservative polishing back in the day with stones, and there was always a risk of altering geometric relationships of the parts. Using Flitz on felt Dremel attachments was an inspired idea; I had some on hand for removing very light superficial rust from various items and it did the job. Chris' explanations of what he did and why to what was very helpful. End result on the action was that it really is like cutting through butter.

The only negative to the kit that I found was due to my own ocular maturity and ineptitude. The trigger shims are necessarily thin and are like trying to work with aluminum foil. I mangled the included ones to the point where they were no longer usable. Hammer shims, being thicker, were not a problem at all.

Beyond that, watch the instructional video a few times and pay close attention, particularly when it involves captured springs.

I plan on buying additional kits for other guns I own. Over time I hope the product line expands. K, L, and N frame Smiths would be a plus, although I understand that the leaf mainspring might be difficult to produce at a reasonable price. And the new lockout parts complicate the overall action. And if Chris is willing to risk hair pulling frustration for a parts kit with a limited market, the Rossi/ Braztech Model 92s cry out for better springs, a metal magazine follower, and a video on what to hit with the Flitz

Video made it easy

I recently bought my SP101 .357 snub nose and wanted to clean it after first time at the range. Good time to improve the trigger pull. Video guided me through a job that could have been confusing. Quality of products and packaging first rate. Very happy with the entire experience.

Bought a lighter spring for my ruger Gp100, was very intimidating process until I saw your video. I bought your spring kit and went by the video, it was meticulous, a great job was done, thanks

Waste of money and time

I started with a SP101 with 12+ lbs trigger pull, bought the kit, moto tool, and Lyman digital trigger pull meter, followed the hour and a half video, and when I was done it felt smoother but the double action still read at 10 to 11 lbs. A huge waste of time and money. If mcarbo can do it better then save the expense of buying a trigger pull meter and moto tool. And send it to them mabey they can do a better job, but I used their kit, and followed their video and am VERY disappointed.

Way worth the money and the time!

So I bought this and used it on my SP101 last year. I lost a shim I needed and contacted customer service and they sent me a new one. They were very responsive and courteous. Took my SP101 from OK to great! The video is awesome and I couldn't have done without it. Now I bought a second kit for my new GP100 and did the same project. This time it took my GP100 from good to great! The SP101 desperately needed the shims, the GP did not. But no worries, once I had the gun apart I didn't want to determine at that time the need for shims and not have them. I also bought the polish kit at the same time for both. I basically did everything that the video shows. I highly recommend this for either gun as it greatly improved them and now I know so much more about my revolvers! Go for it!

Well put together kit, light primer strikes

I used this kit on an sp101 in 327. Trigger from factory was terrible and lots of slop in hammer and some in the trigger. Installation video was fantastic, did the buff and fluff of internals and installed the kit. Trigger was immensely improved and slop in action reduced. I feel that they went just a little to light on the springs. Trigger return is ok if a little spongy. Upon doing function check with live ammo, I had about five light primer strikes with standard primers out of about 150 rounds. I haven't checked with magnum primers but believe that I would have more due to increased hardness of the cups. I feel that an increase of between 1-2 pounds on the springs would make this perfect for carry without losing reliability.

Well thought out - noticeable improvement

Great video tutorial and well thought out package contents.

I was actually fixing an ‘experts’ work and this kit restored my GP100’s reliability.

The shims, polishing and spring combo all combine to make a smooth and solid revolver.

Overall took me about 4 hours as I took my time and made sure I had everything correct.

Well worth it!

Seldom do you get more than what you expect out of a product,....but this is one of those times for me. This kit was easy to install and while I had it apart I polished all wear surfaces. Improved both DA and SA tremendously on my SP101. The video that goes along with this is great.....to the point and not too much talking. Very informative and easy to do....thanks Mcarbo guys.

Well worth the time and money

Cheap and very nice upgrade. Lost a star because I do not think most folks will see the 50% reduction advertised. My double action went from just a smidge over 10# to about 7.5#.

What a difference

I purchased the trigger spring kit as well as the firearm & feed ramp polishing kit for a SP-101 in .22 cal. Normally I have a gunsmith do any trigger work, but after watching the online video and reading several reviews, I figured this was something I could do. Unfortunately I do not have a trigger pull gauge, so I can't give numbers as to the pull weight before and after - however the results are significant. From the factory, the pull was heavy and gritty in single and double action. The video was excellent in guiding me through a complete tear-down of the trigger assembly and where to polish what parts. It also showed clearly how to swap the new components, reassemble the revolver and complete a function check. After reassembly, the trigger was noticeably smoother with a lighter pull. Dry-firing was much more stable and easier to keep the sights on target. Can't wait to get out and shoot! Overall - great investment and a fun weekend project!

I learned of the site while watching an outstanding instruction video on Utube.

Everything came quickly and as ordered. I strongly support this group and how they package products. Put the gun together in know time using their helpful hints.

.357 SP101. Great detailed video really aided in the disassembly/ reassembly. I was pleased to be able to print the instructions however, it would have been nice to have the polishing portion be included in the print. Tough to stop and start video with Flitz covered gloves. That being said, my DA pull went from 11.4 to 5.7. And the SA from 5.6 to 1.7. Very smooth pull now and did not need any shims for trigger nor hammer.

Thanks for great products and for your service.

Which is smoother? Butter or mcarbo's kit? Mcarbo!

I'm on my fifth GP100 (there isn't a good reason...I'm just an idiot) and have done trigger jobs every time. In the past, getting the right springs and shims meant having to find the parts and over order (unnecessary extras). This was the perfect package and as easy to install as could be (as long as you know how to work with a GP100, it's a very simple and forgiving design). I probably could still polish the sear a touch more, but this kit and some polishing worked magic. I have yet to test it on all factory brands. If I have trouble with light strikes, I will post again, but as it is I give this a very positive review coming from a guy with a bit of experience.
