Review
After purchasing a KS7 the trigger was terrible. Out of the box it was pulling in excess of 10 plus pounds. Unacceptable. After returning it to Kel Tec it was returned with a pull in the 7 to 8 pounds with a note that was within spec. I have to say that triggers with this heavy of a pull, in my opinion is like working with a dull knife. A real safety issue. My goal was to get below 5lbs which is workable for shotgun. After watching Mcarbo's install video a couple times I went to it. What a pain getting it back together. I was warned. Anyway, after getting it back together it was just not working correctly. I felt some binding and the reset was not working consistently. After dismantle number two, I was still not happy with it and again the reset was not working correctly. Took it apart again and this time I did some polishing and spent a little more time ensuring everything was lining up during reassembly. I found that it worked best for me to deviate from the video in a couple areas, first I did not hold the hammer back and I inserted the inner return spring arm after fitting the sear in the fired position over the hammer bar. I got pretty good at this after my multiple attempts. The video was on a KSG which I would think would be the same but, my KS7 did have an extra screw and was a little different than the video. After my third attempt I ended up with about 4.75 lb. pull and a decent break. the reset works correctly, and the trigger action is much improved. overall. I will be putting it to the test over the next week so hopefully everything stays together. My experience is not an Mcarbo issue, and I appreciate that they offer a spring kit and video in an effort to improve my KS7.
This spring kit makes a big difference. I have been in a accident which left me with weak hands and this helps me enjoy my gun. I'm really grateful.
This spring kit makes the trigger nice and light, but not too light. Combined with the mcarbo trigger it is awesome. Install can be difficult getting everything in place and aligned to get the two halves of the grip assembly back together.
Great improvement over stock trigger pull.
The factory KS7 trigger pull leaves a lot to be desired. Don't know that it's an absolute necessity to upgrade this if it's just a home defense shotgun, but it's definitely a great addition which dramatically lessens the trigger pull and makes it a pleasure to shoot.
Nice upgrade. Install is tedious. I added the springs and lightly stoned off the tooling marks on the sear engagement surfaces. Impressed with the final results. If I had to do it again, I might just pay MCARBO to do the install! Their step by step(KSG) trigger spring install video is a excellent reference.
It's a nice upgrade to my KS7. I can feel the difference in lighter trigger pull. I wish I read the review prior to installation so I know I could reference to the KSG installation. Had a few springs flying here and there but managed to put them back together without the video.
Kel tec 9mm trigger is great. My trigger pull is smooth and half the pull it was.
